Chapter 194 We’ll Meet Again

Liam Wilford’s tone was playful. He was in a good mood probably because Sophie Leger was in good health. His voice was still gentle as he said, "Why are you always so mean?" Lindsey thought he was going to continue with his nonsense, so she wanted to hang up, but just as she put her phone away from her ear, Liam's voice sounded again, "I'm just afraid you've forgotten, so I called to remind you that you only have three months left. We'll meet again then. Oh right, I've invited two very important guests today and they want to hear your voice..." After he said that, there was a little noise, followed by heavy breathing. The person on the other side of the call was probably nervous. Before the other party could say anything, Lindsey's fingers clenched the phone tightly and her hoarse voice carried a cold intent as she said, "I don't want to talk to you. Give the phone back to Liam Wilford." Lindsey did not even know if the other person was a man or a woman. Her tone carried a strong sense of disdain. The person on the other side paused, then spoke, but it was not directed to Lindsey. "Mr. Wilford, it's better if you talk to her." It was a woman's voice that sounded somewhat older, but her voice was quite gentle when she spoke. "Tsk tsk." Liam picked up the phone and glanced at the woman in front of him. The woman was smart enough to walk away, looking cowardly. "Look at you, she’s your..." Liam did not get to finish his words before he was interrupted by Lindsey. "Are you done? I’ll do as promised, so there’s no need for you to test me like this." After this little episode, Liam also lost the heart to tease her. His expression was deep and obscure. After a long time, he let out a light laugh and said, "It’s good that you know." This unpleasant voice gradually faded from her ears as she ended the call. Lindsey touched her belly and her heart suddenly surged with panic, anxiety, and nervousness. Since the day Lana showed up at the mansion, Lindsey rarely saw any scandals about Zayn anymore. It was as if all his scandals lately were everyone’s illusion. Zayn was still the same, but he became more distant and colder than ever. However, many people speculated that Zayn and Lana were officially dating, which made Lana all the more popular. Lindsey just thought that Zayn only kept a low profile because of something the old man said to him that day. Nonetheless, all of these were no longer important to her. As time passed, her daily meals became the biggest torture for Lindsey. She had no appetite. Moreover, nausea and regurgitation followed her like a shadow. To keep this from others, she also had to suppress it. "Lindsey, there's a girl who says she's here to see you." Lindsey was drifting off to sleep in her room when she was suddenly woken up by Mrs. Wendy. She sat up from the bed and her first reaction was that it was Lana, who had come uninvited last time. Mrs. Wendy looked at her dumbfounded face and pinched her cheeks as she laughed. "The little lady said she’s Ms. Wilford and that she’s your friend. Do you want to take a look and see if you want to invite her in?" Lindsey suddenly recalled that she had asked Allie to come over and instantly woke up from her daze. Allie was dragged upstairs by Lindsey. They had not seen each other since the last time Lindsey got drunk. Lindsey later asked how she got back to the Guggenheim mansion. Allie said that Zayn took her back, but she did not mention anything else. Lindsey also did not ask. "What's wrong with you? Why have you lost so much weight in the past few days?" Once the door was shut, Allie took Lindsey's hand and sized her up. Lindsey did not answer her and only asked with a grave face, "Did you buy the things I asked for?" Seeing that she was so anxious, Allie looked at her strangely and Lindsey did not know what Allie meant by that look. Allie reached into her purse and pulled out a box wrapped in a plastic bag. Lindsey reached out to take it, but Allie jumped backward. "Tell me first. Why do you want me to buy this for you? You've lost so much weight. Is it because..." "Yes." Lindsey had nothing to hide from Allie and directly admitted it. She closed her eyes. There was inexplicable despair in them that was unbearable. "I'm not sure, but it seems like it. That's why I asked you to help me." After Lindsey said that, Allie’s heart gradually sank. "Is it Zayn's?" Lindsey looked up at her, then averted her gaze and gave a light “mmm”. Allie looked horrified, but seeing Lindsey’s expression, Allie calmed herself down. She got a clear picture in her mind and looked at Lindsey seriously as she asked, "You don't want this baby?" Lindsey hung her head in agony. She reached out and took the pregnancy test tightly clutched in Allie's hand. It was unclear who she was trying to fool as she said softly, "We still can’t confirm it yet. Let's take the test first. What if it's not?" She knew that once she went out, Zayn's people always followed her around, so she dared not go to the hospital or the pharmacy and had no choice but to ask Allie. Allie's expression was complicated as she watched Lindsey go into the bathroom. Ten minutes later, she could not hold back her wildly beating heart and gently knocked on the bathroom door. "Lindsey, are you okay?" Lindsey sat on the toilet and her face was pale as she looked at the two bright red bars on the small pink object in her hand. When she heard Allie's knock, she was so startled that she shivered. Although she had long prepared herself for this possibility, she still felt dizzy when the truth lied in front of her. The momentary joy was overshadowed by the overwhelming despair and struggle. The happiness became so faint that it was almost invisible. How could it be? Lindsey reached out and hugged herself. How could this happen? Why would she have a baby? Why now? No one could answer her. She did not even have the strength to raise her hand as the knocking outside gradually faded. "Lindsey, just come out first and let's discuss it together, okay?" Allie used her gentlest voice as she tried to get Lindsey to come out first. This child could not be kept. Whether Lindsey wanted it or not, the baby came at the wrong time. If Lindsey had a moment's hesitation, she would not mind killing this little thing that was probably the size of a bean sprout for Lindsey. Allie could not figure out how Lindsey could be so careless to get herself pregnant when, according to Liam, Lindsey could only live a few more months at most. She was surprisingly patient as she constantly persuaded Lindsey at the door. All the while, Lindsey hid in the bathroom with one hand hugging herself tightly, while the other cautiously stroked her belly, which was not yet showing. This was her and Zayn's child.
