Chapter 432

I halted my steps. I heard her loud and clear as she said, “At that time, he still thought his biological mother was me. So, he missed me very much, but I… I have always been cruel to him. I only see him every year on his birthday. He only appeared by your side because he thought I was your kidney donor. Thus, he stayed and guarded you. Why else would a man that never got close to women suddenly treat you extraordinarily?” Zachary knew me a long time ago? I asked stiffly, “What are you trying to say?” “Do you really think Zachary loves you?” I did not respond to her. “In other words, do you really think Zachary understands what love is?” Zachary previously mentioned that he did not understand love and asked me to teach him. However, his actions showed he knew so much about love compared to me. I remained silent. Zachary’s mother calmed down as she continued, “The Schick family brought Zachary up. He grew up in a lonely environment, and his personality is gritty yet ruthless and cold. This kind of man understands love?” I stayed silent, not knowing how to answer her question. In my mind, I was sure Zachary loved me. However, she asked me smugly, “Men usually want to settle down. What if he only got together with you for the sake of forming a family?” I bit my lip and heard her asked another question. “Caroline, do you know Zach’s secret? He once wanted to kill you!” ‘He once wanted to kill you…’ Her words echoed in my ear. When Tucker saw me walk over in dazed, he came over and asked me caringly, “Master, did she said something to you?” I shook my head. “It’s nothing.” Tucker and I went to the main hall. Zachary kneeled with his back straightened. I recalled how he kneeled the same way in front of my biological father’s coffin a year ago. I wanted to go over and accompany him by his side, but I felt like retreating due to Zachary’s mothers’ words that echoed in my mind. I shook my head and warned myself. I must believe in Zachary and not think of nonsense! I told Tucker, “Let’s go in.” Just when I walked in, I heard a voice saying ironically, “They say you are the Schick family’s previous master, Zachary Schick. Are you that shameless to come back here to mourn?” He used his words to attack Zachary. It was a short and fat young man that spouted nonsense beside Zachary. He looked around twenty years old. Zachary ignored him, but he had not noticed my arrival yet. The rude young man continued to annoy Zachary. “My mom said you are the one who occupied our glory for years! If you didn’t have the Schick family’s resources, you would still be a wild kid!” His words were irrational, and he never considered who he provoked. I quickly went over and scolded him, “Shut up.” He heard someone tried to stop him, so he turned around angrily. He asked fiercely, “Who do you think you are to let me shut up?” Was the Schick family’s younger generation that idiotic? He did not even know about me! I frowned. I wanted to say something, but Zachary suddenly voiced out for me. He said lightly, “This lady in front of you, her name is Caroline Schick. Even your mother, Joanna Schick, has to respectfully call her Master. Who do you think she is? She is somebody who can easily squash you. She could squash the Schick family’s distant relatives as easily as crushing an ant.”
