Chapter 433
I could only be referred to as Caroline Schick on formal occasions.
The Schick’s family name was one of the reasons why I had the right to inherit the Schick family.
After Zachary threatened the young man lightly, a middle-aged woman appeared. She dragged the fatty and apologized faintly.
“My apologies, Master. My child is immature and has disturbed the Old Female Head’s peace. I’ll bring him back to the room now.”
She should be Joanna Schick, as mentioned by Zachary.
There were not many people in the main hall, but there were still many distant relatives of the Schick family. She simply turned a blind eye when that fatty mocked and humiliated Zachary. She only appeared and pretentiously apologized when Zachary mentioned my name!
I understood she had the intention to humiliate both of us.
When Zachary gave his warning and said that I could ‘squash them easily’, it was his reminder to me. I had to exhibit my authority in front of these people, and that fatty would be the unlucky idiot who would be my tool.
He could only blame himself for being so arrogant. He did not know one thing.
Even if a tiger was bullied by a dog, a tiger would still be a tiger!
I wore a cold expression and looked at the mother-son pair. I told them, “The Schick family has always cared about rules and respect. The rewards and punishment are always defined clearly. Since your child doesn’t know how to follow the rules, then let the Schick family personally teach him.”
A few months ago, Tucker told me that the Schick family had a department dedicated explicitly to punishing those who made mistakes. The punishment had always been worst than death.
Joanna clearly understood what I meant when I told her to let the Schick family teach him personally. Her face turned ashen as she pleaded, “Master, please forgive my child.”
I curled my lips and sneered. “He made a mistake, so it’s only reasonable for the Schick family to teach him, unless…”
I paused, then said, “Unless he isn’t a member of the Schick family.
In the main hall, all the distant relatives’ expression changed. They knew the implication of leaving the Schick family, which had always been strong influential support. They quickly distanced themself from the mother and son. Joanna was so afraid she straightway kneeled on the ground and begged, “Master, I’m so sorry. Coby shouldn’t talk to Mr. Schick in such a manner, and he shouldn’t have disrespected you. I will restrain him and teach him.”
There was no room for any bargains. I simply told her, “Pick one out of the two.”
Either for the Schick family to personally teach him a lesson or to be removed from the Schick family.
I understood kindness would never earn their respect. The only way of deterrence here was to threaten.
Joanna saw that my resolution had been set in stone. She gritted her teeth and made her choice.
“Coby didn’t abide the rule and disrespected the Master. The Schick family should teach him a lesson.”
I waved my hand and ordered, “You guys can go now.”
Tucker took the fatty away from his mother. He had been left dumbfounded since his mother kneeled. Meanwhile, the other distant relatives quickly left the main hall.
After they left, I went beside Zachary and kneeled with him. The man said softly, “In the end, you’re still soft-hearted.”
Right, I let them remain in the family.
After that, both of us stayed silent for a while. In my head, Zachary’s mother’s words rang repetitively.
I truly believed in Zachary.
However, I still wanted to ask him in person.
As long as he was willing to tell me, I would believe in him.
I reached out my hand and held his little finger wordlessly. I curiously asked, “Do you still remember the first time you met me?”
“Mmm. I do,” he replied.
“Second Brother, do you remember where we first met?”
