Chapter 425

He wore the ring. Zachary kept that ring and wore it on our engagement night. He accepted it as an engagement ring from me. Zachary lowered his head and kissed my forehead. I hugged him tightly and refused to let go. I heard his gentle voice. “Bel, when we have the time, come follow me to see someone.” If Zachary deliberately wanted me to meet that person, that person must be someone important to him. I lifted my head and locked my gaze onto him. “Sure, who are we meeting?” I asked. He hummed softly, “The person who keeps me alive.” Then, he hugged my waist, and we went to the balcony. Martti and Joshua both held a microphone in their hands and sang. Meanwhile, Yara climbed onto the cabin treehouse on the Chinese Parasol Tree and stared at them. I told Zachary emotionally, “If only our home is so lively daily. Also, Yara… Even though she’s playful, she’s usually the quiet type.” Zachary hummed in response. “She’s quite lonely,” he said. I asked curiously, “How lonely?” “She’s been intelligent since she was a young child. A smart child usually matures early and doesn’t find much enjoyment in their childhood. It’s only when they get older that they prefer liveliness.” Zachary and Yara were the same kind of people. “How about you?” I asked Zachary. “Hm?” I smiled. “Were you lonely?” “Never, since you are by my side now.” Zachary got smoother in sweet-talking. I deliberately teased him, “You think that I’m lively? Does that mean I’m too talkative?” Zachary replied with a serious answer, “You know yourself well.” I raised my hands wordlessly and squeezed his cheeks. Zachary’s body stiffened. He was not used to my teasing, so I stopped. “Forget it, I’ll forgive you for now.” I hugged his arms and glanced at the lively scene downstairs. When Joshua sang until the climax, Yara suddenly called for him. “Joshua, your phone!” There was an abrupt phone call. Joshua put the microphone down and answered the call. It was not clear what the caller said, but Joshua’s face turned ashen instantly. He looked at us with a solemn expression. “Second Brother.” Martti turned off the music immediately. “Why such a face?” he asked. “You looked like someone just died. Come, let’s sing another song and go racing afterward.” When Martti mentioned racing, Yara’s eyes lit with interest. She quickly asked Martti, “Can I join too? I just got my driving license.” Time flew by quickly. Yara was an adult already. She just turned seventeen when I first met her. Martti smiled. “Sure, you can sit in my car.” “Not interested,” Yara rejected his suggestion immediately. Since Yara looked unhappy, Martti quickly changed his words, “Lil Yara, you can drive my car, and I will sit on the passenger seat.” Martti’s reaction was quick indeed. I chuckled softly. Meanwhile, Joshua still stared at Zachary blankly. He called “Second Brother” but never continued his latter words. After calming Yara down, Martti asked Joshua, “What were you going to say?” It was rare to see Joshua with a grave expression. I had a bad feeling. I guessed something horrible might have happened. “Say it,” Zachary spat. “Noelle called. She said your mother, she… She was found dead in her bedroom. “It was a suicide.”
