Chapter 424
Why would I not want to marry Zachary? My biggest dream was to marry him and become Mrs. Schick.
I held his hand tightly.
I said, “I do,” with a sense of urgency.
Zachary smiled. “Silly.”
“What are you guys whispering about?”
It was Martti. He interrupted us and raised his wine glass and toasted a drink. He cheered, “Wishing you both to be blessed with happiness, and I wish I could find my partner soon.”
When Martti said the second half, his gaze shifted towards Yara. The latter looked laid back and contended while she enjoyed her steak slowly.
She seemed to enjoy that dish a lot.
Zachary raised his glass and replied Martti, “You won’t find a partner so soon.”
Martti was shocked. “Was that a curse?!”
Zachary simply squinted at him then ignored him. Meanwhile, Martti went to Yara and complained pitifully, “He bullied me.”
Yara glanced at Martti and asked, “Do I look like I can win against him?”
Clearly, Yara could not win against Zachary. Martti’s real intention was not to seek revenge. He only wanted to talk to Yar, although she did not really want to talk to him.
Since Yara’s dull reaction, Martti lost his mood and stopped eating. He asked Joshua, “Is there any singing equipment here?”
Joshua got up and returned with a microphone.
“There is. I’ll start with one song.”
Joshua’s singing voice was clear and soothing. He sang the song ‘Time in a Haste’ passionately. He also sang another song called ‘Bump of Life’.
Then, Martti took the microphone from Joshua and asked if I had a song wishlist. I suddenly recalled a song I heard in the subway corridor.
I asked, “Can you sing ‘Someone Like Me’?”
“Of course,” Martti smiled.
Martti was a good singer too. All the men around me were good looking, wealthy, and talented. They were remarkably outstanding.
After that, Martti continued and sang a few more songs. Zachary took his leave midway and left the dining table. I hurriedly got up and followed behind him. He stopped when we walked to somewhere secluded.
“So enthusiastic?” He turned around.
I laughed like a fool and kissed the corner of his lips lovingly. He pursed his lips and suppressed his laughter. “Such a clingy kid,” he commented.
“I’m not a kid,” I denied.
“Only a kid would act so childishly like you,” he added.
Hearing that, I laughed in amusement. “Since you haven’t been in love, you don’t know that girls are naturally clingy! Second Brother, no matter what kind of girl, it doesn’t matter if she’s a cold person or cheerful person. Whenever they meet their loved ones, they would act the way I do too!”
Zachary reacted with a sharp question. “Did you act the same way with Dixon?”
I had a strong will to survive. I quickly answered, “Dixon and my marriage was only a marriage of convenience. Even though I had other intentions, Dixon never treated me as a wife. In those three years long of marriage, we behaved like strangers. After our divorce, we didn’t get together for more than a few days.”
“To be honest, it wasn’t a real relationship,” I explained, “If I were to answer seriously, our relationship was a first for me! That’s right. You are my first lover.”
Zachary was my first lover. Our two-way relationship contained our love for each other.
Dixon was nothing more than an ex-husband.
I was not sure if Zachary believed in my words.
He raised his hands and caressed the back of my head as he spoke softly.
“You are always good at talking and the best at making me happy. No matter what you’ve said, I would still believe in you. Bel, I never cared about your past. All I wanted was your future with me.
“Are you ready to spend the rest of your life with me?” he asked solemnly.
I could not bear it when a man like Zachary talked about love. His sweet words washed over me with waves that flowed right through my heart.
I held his hand tightly. I gently caressed his hand and rubbed his finger with my thumb. There was a ring on that finger.
“You already accepted my ring and even wore it. Would you still look back?” I asked. “Moreover, you gave me a ring and put it on me.”
The ring he wore was the ring I brought to Espoo. It was on Christmas Eve—his birthday.
I brought the wedding ring with me when I searched for him, although he refused to see me.
In the end, I left the ring at the doorsteps of the villa in Espoo.
