Chapter 855
Ryan said self-mockingly, "I did it with my bare hands!"
Camelia was shocked, and she looked at his body. "Were you bitten?"
"Nope!" He took off his shirt and guided her hand to his chest. "Do you see any wounds?"
Startled, she pulled her hand away as if shocked. Annoyed yet amused, she scolded, "Stop joking around! How can you still be thinking about that now?"
As he gazed into her eyes, he noticed the prominent veins, a sign of her lack of sleep from the night before. He felt a pang of sympathy.
"Don't worry. Just leave the bats to me. I'll find a way to deal with those pesky pests!"
"Do you have a plan already?" she asked.
"Not yet. The fire didn't do much. But we have our very own technical expert, right? Let's ask her about it. She would know what to do."
After he washed himself up, he went looking for Eloise with Camelia.
Eloise was standing in the middle of her farm, feeling frustrated.
She realized that there were more and more rat burrows on the sweet potato farm recently. The rats were destroying her sweet potatoes, and she had to figure out how to deal with them. Otherwise, all of her hard work would've been in vain.
The rats dug their burrows under the farm to eat the sweet potatoes. However, she didn't know how she should deal with them. There was no rat poison or trap. Was she supposed to smoke them out one burrow after another?
Just as she was pondering, Ryan and Camelia approached her.
"What's up, Ms. Zimmer? Why do you look frustrated?" He had rarely seen her being frustrated before, and that was his first time witnessing it. He couldn't believe there would be something that could trouble her.
As he spoke, he exchanged glances with Camelia. They had a bad feeling. If Eloise couldn't fix her issue, she would not be in the mood to fix their problem.
She didn't even spare them a glance, her gaze dark. "My farm is infested with rats. If I don't fix this soon, the sweet potatoes will be gone."
If it were something else, Ryan might not be able to offer assistance. However, when it came to dealing with rats, he had many ideas. He looked at the farm and felt confident.
"Just leave the rats to me. I promise they will learn their lesson!"
"What do you have in mind?" she asked meticulously.
"Be it fire or water, I have a lot of ideas for them!" Since the cellar was built, he had nothing much to do. "I'll deal with those sweet potato-eating thieves with all I have!"
Eloise considered it, and there was really nothing else she could do. So, she had no choice but to agree to his primitive methods.
"In that case, I'll leave it to you, Ryan!" After saying that, she was ready to leave. It seemed as if she didn't notice Camelia at all. Ryan and Camelia smiled together as they thought Eloise was adorable when she was in deep thought.
"Wait, Eloise!" Camelia called out to her.
Eloise was stunned and finally realized Camelia was there as well. "Can I help you, Camelia?"
"Here's the thing…"
Camelia treated Eloise as the savior of her cornfield and sincerely said, "My cornfield is infested with bats, and they appear at night to feast on my corn. Although we didn't suffer a great loss, we will run out of corn to harvest if this keeps up. I was wondering if you knew how we could deal with them."
