In the hallway, Henry Hawthorne happened to overhear the phone call. His sharp eyes darkened with resentment.
He immediately dialed Lydia Moore’s number. Edward Hawthorne planning a wedding this fast? It had to be about Violet Jordan. He had to let Lydia know.
He expected her to be mad, but instead, Lydia actually laughed after hearing what he said.
It took her a while to stop chuckling. “Well, it looks like Edward really does care about Alice Sterling.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Henry was completely stumped by her response.
“Doesn’t matter. If they want their little wedding, let them have it. Their sweet couple act won’t last very long anyway.”
