Flying back to Manhattan the next morning was more stressful than I thought, and still…I had to go straight to work the moment I landed just to distract myself, but deep down, the thought of facing Lucian again after a week troubled my mind all day. It wasn't just him—it was everything. The tension, the confusion, the way I still ached for him even when I swore I wouldn't. But I had no choice but to face him again. Grandma's birthday was in a few days and I needed to deliver the invitation.
But by the time I was done with work that evening, I was so exhausted. I drove to the mansion, my heart pounding harder the closer I got.
