Chapter 294
Tabitha's POV
I got butterflies in my stomach.
The painful memory of losing my child in the hemorrhage came back to me, making it impossible for me to calm down.
Even my voice trembled uncontrollably.
"What... What is it..." I couldn't help clutching the hem of my clothes. I was prepared for the worst.
I was a werewolf, and my senses were sharper than human beings. Right at this moment, my worries about my baby were eating me up.
To my surprise, the doctor smiled, "Congratulations, Ms. Hartley. You're carrying twins. I saw two fetal hearts."
My eyes became teary at once. I asked with caution, my lips trembling, "Then ... are they developing well?"
"Well, from what I can see, the answer is yes. You've got nothing to worry about."
I stroked my lower abdomen and burst into tears of joy.
I wasn't having a baby. I was having two!
As Joanna pushed the door and entered, she saw the look on my face, and she figured something bad had happened.
"What's wrong? Is something wrong with the baby? Calm down, Tabitha. With the advancement of medical technology nowadays, everything's gonna be fine."
I was so thrilled that I couldn't utter a word. I shook my head frantically and finally managed to say, "No. It's not like that. The baby is fine. It's... It's... I..."
"Gee! Tabitha, just say it already! You're killing me! What is it exactly?"
The doctor was amused. "Ms. Hartley is just too excited. She is pregnant with twins, and the babies are developing well."
"That's great, Tabitha! You're carrying twins? How impressive!"
I wiped away my tears, flustered. "Yeah. I didn't realize I was having twins, either." I was satisfied with one baby, and such a fact made me over the moon.
I excitedly bowed to the doctor repeatedly. "Thank you so much!"
The doctor waved his hand. "All I did was give you a checkup. From now on, rest well. Your health beats everything. Having twins can be very exhausting."
"It's fine. I'll overcome anything as long as I give birth smoothly," I said.
Joanna wiped away my tears for me. "What a good thing. Why are you crying?"
I embraced Joanna. My body was trembling uncontrollably even until now.
No one would understand how I felt right now. Only those who had lost knew how precious what they had was.
My voice trembled as I said, "I have two babies... I have two babies!"
Joanna, though had never gotten married, was affected by my emotions.
She patted my shoulder and said, "You're so happy that you can't stop crying? Look who's the baby here? Come on, Tabitha. Don't cry. You're gonna be a mother soon."
I stopped crying and smiled, "You're right. I won't cry anymore. I'm just so happy that I'll soon be the mother of two kids."
I said the sentence again and again. God knew what life meant to me.
My world had been once in darkness, but now I once again saw the light of hope.
The arrival of the babies made me hopeful for life again. I was incoherent with joy.
It took Joanna a long time to calm me down. I drank a glass of water to soothe my throat, thanked the doctor several times, and then left.
Derek's POV
I had been keeping tabs on Tabitha.
As soon as she walked out of the B-ultrasound room, my man handed me her B-ultrasound report.
My gaze instantly became deep when I saw two fetal hearts.
Obadiah didn't know what was going on. He asked, puzzled, "Alpha Derek, is there something unclear about the results? You can ask me any questions you have. From the report, both babies are particularly healthy and developing well. If you wanna know their genders, I can..."
Kamp aside cleared his throat.
"Do you have a sore throat? Want some pills?" Obadiah looked at him with confusion.
Kamp certainly did not dare to say what was going on in his mind.
He knew that for me, the werewolves' leader, Tabitha's baby was an accident to begin with. And the fact that she was having twins undoubtedly complicated the situation even more.
One baby was already a lot to take for me, let alone two.
Right now, I even had the urge to tear down the hospital.
"I'm fine. You know, you don't have to keep talking all the time. Alpha Derek, what are you gonna do?"
Kamp looked at me tentatively.
I clutched the report and said coldly, "Stick to the plan."
