Chapter 293
Tabitha's POV
The whole phone situation had me super worried, but I never expected that Derek was also blocking my dad from touching a phone every time.
After the same conversation happened a few times, Dad definitely sensed something was off.
After all, he wasn't born yesterday.
I quickly said to him, "Dad, some stuff did happen while you were in a coma. I'll tell you all about it, but it's just not now. When you fully recover, I promise I'll tell you about it bit by bit. "
As soon as Dad heard that, he got all fired up, his hands starting to shake. "I knew it! Something's not right. When I came around, your hand was maimed, and you've been giving Derek the cold shoulder. What on earth happened?"
Seeing Dad so emotional, I quickly helped him sit down and said, "Dad, look, this is exactly why I didn't tell you. Actually, it's not a big deal. It's just that he and I had a fight over some things. Didn't you see him begging me for forgiveness all day? If it were something serious, we werewolves wouldn't just let it slide. We would have cut off all contact long ago."
With my reassurance, Dad gradually calmed down.
"You're right. Derek assured me repeatedly that he wouldn't let you down. So what exactly went wrong between you two?"
I answered, "Dad, I'll fill you in later. You're just starting to get better. The doctor said you shouldn't get too emotional, remember?"
I poured him a glass of hot milk.
"Actually, all that stuff is in the past. I mean, all the couples fight, right? It's just part of life. As long as we can work it out, we'll be all good. I'm a grown-up, and I can handle it."
"True, but if that punk gives you a hard time, you must tell me. No matter what kind of condition I am in, I won't let anyone harm my baby girl."
I smiled faintly, replying, "I know, no one in this world loves me more than you, Dad."
Seeing that his hand gradually stopped shaking, I finally decided to swallow my confusion.
Now wasn't the right time to ask him about the Crescent Pack. I would have to wait for a bit longer. "Dad, rest well. I'll go back now."
I then left his room, letting out a big sigh.
Everyone wanted to know the truth, but not many truths came without some pain.
I stood alone at the edge of the terrace, reaching out to catch the rainwater falling from the sky as I watched the fierce storm.
Feeling the power of nature, I silently prayed that everything would go smoothly tomorrow.
The next day, I skipped breakfast and headed to the hospital with Joanna.
She was like a chirpy little bird, chattering away beside me, "Tabitha, after your check-up, what do you feel like eating? I'll buy it for you. It's rare we get out together, so we gotta enjoy a good meal! Eating those bland foods all day must be boring. Do you want to try something different?"
I don't know what came to her mind, but suddenly, she licked her lips, her eyes sparkling like a kid in a candy store.
Her excitement rubbed off on me. "Just buy what you see fit."
Joanna really bought me a bunch of street foods, all of which were the ones I used to like when I was a student.
After I submitted my blood sample, she quickly handed me the food. "We've got more tests to do, so hurry up and take the time to grab something."
"Okay." I sent a message to Obadiah when I wasn't occupied. Having confirmed everything was fine, I finally started to enjoy my breakfast.
After filling my stomach, I went to the same ultrasound room as last time. It was still the same doctor, looking at me with a smile on her face.
"Lie down. I'll check you up."
"Thank you so much. I owe you a big one."
"Oh dear, you don't owe me anything. Let's get started."
I had this weird connection to the baby growing inside me, but right then, I felt a bit anxious, afraid that the child had not developed well.
Suddenly, I noticed the doctor's expression shifted.
My heart sank. "Doc, is there a problem?"
"Yeah, and it's a big one."
