Chapter 18
Even though Clyde had covered for Isabel during the plagiarism incident, his attitude toward her grew more distant once he returned.
Isabel gritted her teeth, certain he still couldn't move on from Cecily. Even though Cecily had slunk off like some pathetic stray, it still felt like her presence was everywhere.
With that thought in mind, Isabel grabbed her phone and texted Clyde. "Clyde, I think I'm sick. Can you come see me?"
Isabel was someone he had loved for years, after all. He ended up visiting her after receiving her message.
She was lying on the couch in a slip-style nightgown when he got to her place. Her complexion looked completely normal. She clearly wasn't sick.
Clyde saw right through it the moment he saw her, and the whole thing annoyed him. He turned to leave, but she grabbed his hand.
