Stephen strode out as quickly as he could. When he passed by the garden, he could feel the gazes of the guests on him as they whispered among themselves. His brow furrowed, and he had the inexplicable feeling that things had spiraled out of his control. With that, he tossed aside all pretense of appearing calm and quickened his pace, wishing that he could just fly to the Wendell residence.
