"I can't believe she actually hung up on us!" Jamie shouted, his voice echoing down the hallway.
Hannah scrunched up her nose in annoyance. "Forget it, she'll show up. She's probably just sulking because Dad and Linda left for Maple Island together."
Jamie tossed the phone aside. "That's got to be it. Linda can do everything, so of course, she'd go with Dad. I don't get why Mom's so upset."
"I wish Linda could just be our mom," Hannah said, probably for the hundredth time.
The two of them exchanged a grin, not even caring how Eliana might feel if she heard them. They were sure she'd come get them soon anyway.
But as the hours dragged by, day turned into night, and there was still no sign of her.
When Gabriel and Linda left, they hadn't even thought about the discharge fees.
Jamie and Hannah couldn't leave on their own. Now that they'd recovered, their beds had even been taken away, so they just sat in the hallway all day, getting more and more frustrated.
