Leah's heart pounded in her chest. The moment Zayne stepped into the room and looked directly at her and she could see the suspicion dark and sharp in his eyes, she feared the worst.
Had he heard? Had he somehow pieced it together?
Zayne’s voice cut through her thoughts.
“A true Luna wouldn’t let jealousy make her act like a petty, irrational child.” He said.
The words felt like ice water poured down her spine. She almost fainted from the relief she felt. So…Zayne hadn’t heard anything at all or suspected anything? Thank the moon goddess.
“I—I wasn’t thinking clearly,” Leah stammered. Her voice trembled as she tried to hide her panic. “It was the stress… the pressure of everything. I promise I’ll behave. You won’t have to deal with this again.”
Zayne didn’t respond. His stare remained cold and unreadable. After a few seconds, Leah fled. She didn’t dare wait for him to say another word.
