Chapter 167 Maya Is Found
Maya’s POV
I blinked, and for a moment, the world seemed to reel in confusion about me. My head was like lead, every breath I took was a little more than a shallow, frightened swallow of air. My arms and legs were so weak-maybe I did not wake up at all.
All I could remember was the dark, cold cell-the chains biting into my skin, the silence so great it hurt my ears, the shadows closing in-then... nothing.
I strove to move, to raise my hand or sit up, but found that my body wouldn't let me. My muscles shook uncontrollably, and my chest felt as though it wouldn't let me take in enough air. Everything was blurred-edges fuzzy; sounds muffled, as if I were drifting in and out of consciousness. My mind was a jumble of pieces, reaching for things I couldn't quite remember. Was this real? Or was I still trapped somewhere, lost in a nightmare from which I could not wake up?
Then come into view. Two figures sitting by my side, so near I knew them—yet they were utterly incredible. Max! And Leo! W
