Ella’s POV
What happened after I kicked that door down was a blur. I couldn’t explain it even if I tried—all I knew was that one moment, I was standing in the hallway, and the next I was moving across the room like a bullet. The moment after that, I was clutching a crying Lucien in my arms, and Alexander was kneeling on the floor by the open window, staring at me in shock.
“What the hell were you thinking?!” I cried as I cradled Lucien’s head against my chest. “You could have killed yourself and our son!”
Alexander’s eyes, clouded and unfocused, blinked and slowly cleared. He looked around the room, at me and Lucien, at the open window he was just about to jump out of, then at Hunter, Anya, and Lilith rushing in behind me.
