Chapter 99
Atlas' words were enough to stir up a commotion at the medical showdown.
A wave of heat seemed to radiate through the air as all eyes fixed on Atlas.
Their hands were trembling. They wondered if he was insane.
Daniel was the first to stand up and slam the table. "Bastard, you're unbelievably arrogant! We're seasoned medical experts in Newtropolis' medical community, and you dare to address us as juniors? Do you not understand the basic concept of respect?"
Colin chimed in, "Exactly. Where are your manners? You don't even have the basic medical ethics!"
Atlas ignored their words. He continued blowing smoke rings before saying, "I apologize. However, regarding the expertise in traditional medicine, it was never judged based on age, only by skill.
"In terms of age, I could address you as old-timers. But in terms of medical expertise, you all should call me master!"
The entire room fell silent.
Everyone glared at Atlas while their teeth ground in anger.
He was unbelievably arrogant. It was clear he looked down on everyone.
"Why don't you get the rest of your doctors from Century Group? Get as many as you can. If any of you can defeat me today, I'll concede."
Atlas said as he looked up towards the top floor of the Century Group building. He knew that Sierra was definitely watching.
Daniel was hesitant. After all, Atlas seemed to be inviting humiliation on himself.
He picked up the phone to call Sierra. "Ms. Hammond, this guy is unbelievably cocky. Do you think we need to get more people down here?"
Sierra chuckled coldly over the phone, "Since he's looking to be humiliated, let him have it. Let Newtropolis witness how powerful Century Group's medical team has become.
"Atlas, do you really think Century Group is the same as it was five years ago? What a joke!"
With Sierra's command, all the doctors from Century Group went to the stage. There were nearly a hundred of them.
Atlas' expression remained unchanged as if the crowd was invincible to him. "Is that all you've got? Tell me now, how should we do this?"
Daniel stepped forward while glaring at Atlas. "Newtropolis Hospital of Traditional Medicine has a pool of patients with chronic and complicated illnesses. These patients have sought treatments for years without success.
"To keep things fair, we'll randomly select patients for free treatment. Whoever cures them wins the battle. How does that sound?"
The crowd cheered in agreement. In modern medicine, curing complex illnesses is the mark of top-tier medical expertise.
However, Atlas shook his head.
Daniel stared at him and asked, "What? Are you trying to pull some tricks?"
Atlas exuded confidence and said, "There's no need for all that. I'm short on time. Just pick the most difficult case because there are no illnesses in this world that I can't cure."
Daniel nearly choked on his anger. "You bastard! I'll see if you can keep up with that attitude. You're a nobody being clueless about his limits!"
Soon, a patient from Newtropolis Hospital of Traditional Medicine was brought in.
Gilbert Roth was a retired soldier with a complex condition. Both domestic and international experts had already declared his case hopeless.
He was only at the hospital for some final comfort. He was in the advanced stage of liver cancer.
All treatment options had failed. What lay ahead of him was the agony of chemotherapy and the despair of life's end.
Century Group chose this case not for any reason other than they were developing a promising new treatment method known as The Celestial Acupuncture Codex.
Atlas' mother originally left the technique with the Hammonds.
It was reputed to have miraculous healing properties.
After five years of study, Century Group's team believed they had mastered it.
