I wiped away my tears, feeling unsettled. I shouldn’t have been the one to see the Alpha like this—so broken, so stripped of strength. The apology wasn’t mine to accept anyway. That belonged to my mother.
“I don’t hold a grudge against you,” I said at last, “but you should make things right with my mom. I’ll also let Luna know I’m not upset.”
He lifted his head, and though I couldn’t meet his eyes, I kept mine lowered.
“Thank you,” he murmured.
I rose and gave him a bow. “Have you eaten?”
He gave a faint chuckle. “I will.”
“Alright then, I’ll have someone bring your breakfast. For now, I’ll excuse myself.” With another bow, I slipped out.
That conversation had been a whirlwind.
In the hall, I stopped a maid. “Yes, ma’am?” she asked quickly.
“Tell the kitchen to prepare breakfast for the Alpha and take it to his study,” I instructed.
She hurried off, and I continued to the dining room. Osborne’s scent reached me before I even stepped in. When he saw me, he stood at once.
