Chapter 523
The Sykes left just like that, leaving Jordan and Ferdinand alone. They exchanged helpless glances, feeling abandoned and desolate.
Cyrus walked up to the two brothers. "Your past actions weren't heinous crimes, but using Blood Bat venom to harm the Fosters is unforgivable."
Jordan quickly raised his hand and pleaded, "Mr. Johnson, I swear we didn't know anything about what happened to Wilson. The Sykes never told us about it. They never treated us as family and always kept us in the dark."
His words tumbled out quickly, obviously showing how nervous he was.
Cyrus, at just 24, had suddenly become the most powerful figure in Jorsproburgh's medical world. Even the head of the Hayes family, who was over 50, did not dare to defy him.
"Yes, Mr. Johnson. We're just pawns. Being born into the Sykes family wasn't our choice," Ferdinand added.
The Sykes family had distanced themselves, leaving the Hayes brothers no chance against Cyrus. Their only hope now was to survive.
"In that case, what about Marshall?" Cyrus asked.
"Well..." Jordan couldn't explain. He handed over the remaining 20 nutrient pills to Cyrus. "We admit it, and we know we've broken the medical creed. Mr. Johnson, you can punish us."
"You used Blood Bat venom to control Marshall. He's already 88 years old and was one of the Big Four in the medical community of Jorsproburgh. You humiliated him, slapped him, and kicked him. You did all that, right?" Cyrus asked.
"Y-Yes," Jordan admitted.
"Kneel and apologize!" Cyrus demanded.
Everyone in the meeting room was shocked. There were representatives from three major families and about a dozen board members. Would the head of the Hayes family really kneel and apologize?
Marshall, having failed to kill Evelyn, was in excruciating emotional pain as he watched his son's murderer walk away. Despite his agony, he knew that he was no match for Chris, let alone Evelyn.
Cyrus was his only hope for revenge, but why would Cyrus risk his life for the Foster family?
Right now, Cyrus was giving Marshall back some dignity, which brought him a bit of comfort.
"Jordan, I'm old enough to be your father, yet you hit me mercilessly like you were beating an old dog. Now, it's your turn to have a taste of your own medicine," Marshall said.
Jordan and Ferdinand looked at each other. Their faces flushed red, too ashamed to meet Marshall's eyes.
The next second, they kneeled down and said, "Marshall, we were arrogant and disrespectful. Please hit us back."
Jordan hoped Marshall would show mercy after his plea.
But Marshall, who had suffered for over ten years, didn't hold back. With a trembling hand, he slapped each of them ten times. He only stopped when he was tired from the beating. The two brothers felt dizzy, with blood trickling from their mouths.
But they deserved it. Marshall had been tortured mercilessly by the Blood Bat venom, yet they showed him no mercy, humiliating him for days on end as if he were a dog.
Cyrus then continued, "I'll give you a choice today. You can choose to repent and redeem yourselves or you can continue your wicked ways and die tonight."
"How do we redeem ourselves?" Jordan asked.
"Jordan Pharmaceuticals will now be under Margot's control. You can be a vice chairman at most. Forget about dominating Jorsproburgh. Without the Sykes family's backing, you're nothing," Cyrus said.
Jordan reluctantly nodded. "I accept!"
At least they still had their shares. They could continue living a prosperous life.
"And I should add, the Hayes family is no longer part of the Four Chairmen of the Medical Association. Using Blood Bat venom makes you a disgrace to the medical community."
"I accept!" Jordan replied.
"When I confront the Sykes family for using Blood Bat venom, the two of you will be my witnesses."
"Well..." Jordan hesitated.
