A tiny, half-smile had graced my mother's lips. "You really have turned into an Alpha," she murmured quietly, catching me off guard. I looked away, jaw clenched. It was a foreign sensation to see affection on my Mother's face. I hadn't witnessed affectionate care from my parents since I was six or seven years old. My Wolf stirred uncomfortably. He didn't remember those days.
