Chapter 103 It's a Man
Darkness hung heavily over the restaurant that night.
Joseph stumbled down the street, wearing Nancy's coat. His body was burning with heat, leaving him restless and unsteady. His mind was hazy, clinging to only one thought. "Nancy had said she wanted prunes."
He had not seen a single supermarket along the way, which struck him as odd. Just as he was about to turn back toward the restaurant, his body froze.
A pair of rough hands suddenly clamped over his mouth. In the next moment, a powerful force dragged him into a pitch-black alley. Inside, a few gangsters had been waiting impatiently.
"Hurry up!" one of them barked. They rushed forward, eager and reckless, grabbing at the slim figure that had been pulled inside.
With a sharp rip, the coat was torn away. But the expected scream and struggle never came. Even the body beneath their hands was strange. It felt too solid and firm.
One of them leaned toward the faint glow from the alley entrance and finally saw the man's face clearly
