Chapter 1796
Sebastian didn't take Orinthia's warning about the pirates to heart, completely engrossed in learning Great Devouring Technique and slipping into a state of selflessness.
Time gradually passed by. Not knowing how long had passed, Sebastian had finally cultivated the initial phase of Great Devouring Technique. Filled with delight, he couldn't wait to test the magical effects of this technique.
When he was about to leave, he suddenly realized that Orinthia was nowhere to be found. As he was too focused and engrossed in the cultivation earlier, he didn't notice it at all when exactly she was gone.
Recalling the panic on her face when she had mentioned the pirates, he felt his heart skipping a beat, and a bad premonition rose in his chest. Was she abducted by the pirates?
In a flash, Sebastian jumped high into the air and looked down at the whole island. His irises shrank after taking a look because he found a village hidden on the island.
However, the village was now a living hell. More than half of the houses had collapsed. After being burned by fire, only broken walls were left emitting wisps of black smoke.
Blood was flowing on the ground, forming a few deep-red puddles. Bodies of the villagers were scattered around. Some were dismembered, their faces frozen with the fear they had felt at the last moment of their lives, while others were missing limbs.
It was a horrifying sight.
No longer protected by their parents, children wailed fearfully, crying in a heartbreaking manner. The injured were moaning on the ground painfully, their voices weak and desolated.
A strong, nauseating smell of blood mixed with smoke filled the air. The entire scene was unbearable to watch, looking as though it was the end of the world.
At the sight of this, Sebastian felt his heart burning with fury. He widened his eyes, and the veins on his forehead popped.
When he clenched his fists, his knuckles turned white from overexertion. Gritting his teeth, he growled angrily through the gaps of his teeth.
Just then, he saw a hunched back old lady who was trembling. Sitting in the midst of the ruins, she sobbed with an empty look in her eyes.
Sebastian wasted no time to land and rushed to the old lady. Anxious and worried, he asked, "Madam, have you seen a young, pretty lady? She's dressed in white and has flowing, long hair. Her looks are rather eye-catching."
The old lady lifted her tear-streaked and dirty face, which was filled with despair. Her lips were trembling, and her raspy voice was almost inaudible.
"I saw her. She's amazing and killed quite a few pirates, but they were simply too many. Like a group of devils, they swarmed at her and took her away in the end."
Murderous intent washed over Sebastian's eyes at her statement, and the iciness within them could almost freeze the air around him.
"Scumbags!" he cursed through gritted teeth. His voice was laced with fury and determination, sounding like a growl from the depths of hell.
He moved in a flash, dashing toward the direction where the pirates had left like a bolt of lightning cutting across the dark. The sea breeze rustled his clothes, and they flapped loudly, but his eyes remained focused on the front, not looking away even for a second.
Within minutes, he found the pirates, who were gleefully moving the items they had plundered. Chatting happily, they were oblivious that the shadow of death was catching up to them at an astonishing speed.
"Die!" Sebastian roared, his voice exploding like thunder above the sea.
The next second, he appeared within the pirate gang. As he waved his arms, spiritual energy burst out of him like a gust of strong wind and instantly ripped a few pirates apart. Blood sprayed into the air like rain and turned the sea surface red.
Only then did the other pirates jolted to their senses, gaping in terror at Sebastian, who had suddenly appeared. As they were brutal criminals, they quickly realized what was happening.
Brandishing their weapons, they growled like beasts and attacked Sebastian madly.
Sebastian snickered and moved in phantom-like steps, dodging their messy attacks easily and gracefully.
At the same time, he kept attacking with his hands, every strike from him carrying a destructive force.
One pirate screamed as his skull was shattered by Sebastian. Red and white matter splattered in all directions, and the sound of brain exploding was chilling.
"Have mercy!" Another pirate tried to flee, but Sebastian kicked him. He turned into a ball of bloody fog in the air and dispersed with the wind.
Sebastian's murderous intent was intensifying. He was akin to an emotionless Grim Reaper; wherever he went, pirates fell like wheat stalks harvested with a scythe.
