Chapter 136
"Mr. Wilder, thank you for your kindness, but you can't save us. Please go, don't make a futile sacrifice," Hannah pleaded, tears filling her eyes.
She was deeply moved by Sebastian's intervention but unwilling to drag him down with them.
"Hannah is right, you should go," Jenny echoed, tears of regret streaming down her cheeks.
She wished she had listened to Sebastian's earlier warnings. This mess was their own doing.
Sebastian remained silent. His posture was unwavering as he fixed his gaze on Charles.
Charles let out a chilling laugh that sent chills down everyone's spine.
"What if I insist on keeping them?" he taunted, his voice dripping with menace.
Sebastian shook his head. "You don't have the power to do that."
Charles chuckled again, his laughter filled with scorn.
The entire room stared at Sebastian with a mix of pity and scorn, as if he were a man already condemned.
"Mr. Sullivan, this man's disrespect is his own. Whatever you do to him, it's none of our business," Harrison quickly disassociated himself from them, eager to avoid any repercussions.
"Mr. Sullivan, we're not with this idiot. You should take it up with him, not us."
"You can go die if you want, but don't drag us down with you."
Charles was known for his ruthlessness and propensity for killing without hesitation.
He initially just wanted Jenny and the others for a bit of forced entertainment. However, Sebastian's defiant comment was bound to infuriate Charles, potentially leading to grave consequences.
All they could do now was pray that Charles' wrath wouldn't extend to them as well.
"It's been a long time since anyone dared to speak to me in such a manner. Who the hell are you?" Charles sneered.
"I'm someone you can't afford to mess with," Sebastian replied calmly.
Jenny groaned inwardly, already picturing the bloody consequences of Sebastian's defiance.
Charles' fury was notorious, and she feared Sebastian wouldn't make it out alive.
The others looked at Sebastian as if he were a fool, bewildered by his seemingly senseless bravado.
Charles' smile twisted into a cruel grin. "I'd like to see what someone I supposedly can't mess with can do. Declan, take him down!"
Declan, one of Charles' most capable aides and an advanced-lever warrior, approached Sebastian with a malicious grip.
He raised his hand, slowly miming a few slaps in the air as if finding the perfect angle to strike.
This gesture was a clear demonstration to everyone that he was about to hit Sebastian's face, showing extreme confidence.
From everyone's perspective, Sebastian wouldn't dare to retaliate, and it would be futile even if he tried.
"Get down!" Declan roared as he swung his hand.
This is his favorite technique. He always aimed for the face when hitting someone. The feeling was quite peculiar to him
His slap was swift and the sound of the air tearing felt like thunder.
Jenny and Hannah turned their heads away, unable to bear watching.
"Slap!"
The crisp sound of a slap rang out as expected, loud and clear, painful even to hear.
Charles and the others wore cruel smirks, but their expression froze in shock and disbelief a split second later.
It wasn't Sebastian who reeled back from the blow. Instead, Declan was sent flying by Sebastian's own strike, crashing into the wall and then slumping motionlessly to the floor.
Everything happened in the blink of an eye.
Sebastian's reaction was lightning-fast, his movement a blur that only Charles managed to track.
Everyone was stunned, especially Jenny and Hannah.
They had assumed Sebastian was merely a foolish young man courting death, destined to be brutally beaten to death.
Unexpectedly, Sebastian proved himself astonishingly powerful, incapacitating one of Charles' top enforcers with a single move.
Charles seethed, a mix of surprise and fury twisting his features. "So you're an expert, which explains your arrogance! But you shouldn't have provoked me. Today, even a tiger must bow before me, and a dragon must coil in my presence."
Sebastian smirked dismissively. "Charles, right? Apologize to these two ladies while I'm still calm, and I might let you walk away."
A collective gasp rippled through the room.
"He's crazy. This guy must be insane. Does he even know what he's saying?" Harrison trembled, terrified Charles would retaliate against them all.
"This idiot is doomed. Let's hope he doesn't drag us down with him," Ryan and Max murmured, their faces pale with fear.
Charles was a terrifying figure whom no one should provoke, yet he was being asked to apologize by Sebastian—an audacious act.
Charles stared intensely at Sebastian, his gaze sharp and cold.
"You've got guts, kid. Today, I'll make sure you wish you were never born! You fools, what are you waiting for? Get him! Tear him apart!" Charles roared.
His command ignited the burly men surrounding Sebastian. They lunged forward like a pack of wolves, each wielding a dagger with murderous intent.
They were Charles' elite, each a mid-level warrior and desperado.
Sabrina also narrowed her eyes, ready to intervene at any moment.
As Charles' lover, she was no mere ornament. Her strength was even greater than Declan's, nearly invincible under a grandmaster.
Jenny, Hannah, and the others could hardly bear to watch.
Though Sebastian had shown impressive strength, they knew he was now outnumbered.
They envisioned a bloody end, with Sebastian hacked apart by the ruthless blades closing in.
