Inside the private room of Dynasty KTV, neon lights pulsed in rhythm with the music, casting a kaleidoscope of color across a haze of laughter and clinking glass. A line of opened liquor bottles and polished shot glasses crowded the coffee table, surrounded by young men and women engrossed in drinking games and raucous banter. Helen led Hazel to a quieter corner of the sofa. No sooner had they sat down than a girl with dramatic makeup slid closer, eyeing Hazel with intrigue. “Sister Helen, is this your friend? She’s gorgeous—like a porcelain doll!” Pleased, Helen lifted her chin proudly, puffing her chest a little. “Of course! What did you expect from someone I brought along?” Their exchange drew the attention of several others. Seizing the moment, Helen stood up and declared, “Listen up, everyone! This is my girl, Hazel. If any of you so much as mess with her, you’ll be answering to me!” A chorus of cheers and good-natured laughter followed. The same heavily made-up girl giggled, “Sis
