Lucas slowly opened his eyes, lazily glancing down—his gaze happened to land on James.
James was just stepping out of the office building, walking toward a woman not far away.
She wore a sharp business suit, with shoulder-length hair neatly styled—her face couldn't be seen, but something about her felt strangely familiar.
And just that one fleeting glance froze Lucas on the spot.
After three years and four months—456 days and nights of endless longing—he could recognize that silhouette anywhere… That woman… was definitely Sophia!
She was alive.
Without thinking, Lucas darted toward the elevator, shouldering through the crowd without pause.
He saw her.
And the closer he got, the more sure he became.
Twenty meters, then nineteen... eighteen... ten… nine—he could almost make out what James was saying to her. But out of nowhere, a truck veered across his path, cutting off his view.
By the time he managed to reach the spot, there was no sign of Sophia anymore.
