Kyra's POV
I stood in front of my mother's grave. The morning air was cool and smelled like cut grass and coming rain.
I held the lilies tight in my hand. Before I could put them down, I smelled something else. Another wolf. Someone I didn't know.
"Who are you?" I demanded, raising an eyebrow at the man standing before my mother's headstone.
He looked me up and down with calculating eyes and flashed a fake smile."You must be Kate's daughter."
The headstone had my mother's name on it: Kate Peterson. When she died, my father and I didn't know her real name was Eva Foster. So we buried her as Kate.
I felt Sylvia stir inside me.
"I don't like him," she growled. "This guy's dangerous. Stay alert."
"I can feel it too," I replied.
"I said who are you?" I gritted my teeth.
He lifted his chin slightly, his smile fading. "I could be an enemy or an ally. What do you want me to be?"
"It depends on your intention," I replied.
He chuckled."You're indeed a Foster. Bold and strong."
