When Hannah returned to the villa, Eleanor and Harold were still at it. Their voices were raised in a fierce argument. Eleanor hadn't even mentioned Ezra storming out.
"Harry, get back to Blaketon!" Eleanor snapped, her tone sharp and unyielding. "Sylvia's the one. I've decided she's my daughter-in-law. You've got to win her back, no matter what!"
"You want her back? Do it yourself!" Harold shot back, his voice thick with frustration. "We're done, Mom. Done! I'm not going back to her—ever! You've been pushing me for two years, but this time, I'm not giving in!"
"You ungrateful little—" Eleanor's voice sharpened. "Her family's got wealth you can't earn in a lifetime!"
"Mom, Sylvia doesn't act like any rich heiress. She's just full of herself," Hannah cut in. She settled beside Eleanor, grasping for the right words to get to her. "Mom, I'm pretty sure Sylvia's family isn't what you think."
