OLIVIA’S POV
“You said we were going to meet Mom. Then why did you bring us all here, Olivia?” James asked, his tone cautious but firm.
I didn’t stop pacing. My boots clicked against the polished hallway floor with every step, a steady rhythm to match the chaos in my chest.
“All in due time, James,” I muttered, avoiding his gaze. “We just have to wait for the right time.”
James exhaled sharply. “Olivia, try to calm down. You’re making the kids uneasy.”
I glanced toward the corner where Noah and Aria sat, giggling quietly over some silly game. Their soft laughter was a balm to my frayed nerves, but it did little to dull the fury storming inside me.
“They’re fine,” I said, my voice clipped.
But I wasn’t. Not even close.
My fingers curled into fists at my sides as I resumed pacing, every nerve in my body still buzzing from the confrontation with Dominic. The things he said. The way he tried to manipulate me, to force me into submission. He hadn’t changed. Not truly.
