Chapter 47
DOMINIC’S POV
Once I calmed Evelyn down and saw her safely off the dance floor, the ballroom lights finally flickered back to life. The brightness illuminated a scene of chaos—dozens of shaken faces, scattered chairs, half-finished meals, and murmurs spreading like wildfire.
The atmosphere was thick with unease.
“Are you feeling okay now?” I asked and looked if she was really fine.
“I am, now that you are here with me,” she said with a smile and kept her hold firm on me. I wanted to check on others too. But Evelyn needed me right now.
Many of the Lunas were pale, trembling, holding onto their mates. Others were glancing around anxiously, as if fearing another sudden blackout.
I strode to the center of the room, joining the other Alphas as we tried to take control of the situation. I raised my voice, confident and calm. “Please remain composed. We suspect it was a minor technical issue. You all are safe. Everything is under control now.”
Even as I spoke the words, I didn’t believe them.
