#Chapter 538: Lights

The camp had long since gone quiet, save for the sound of the wind rustling through the canopy and the occasional critter rooting around for crumbs. Beside me, Enzo slept soundly, still healing after his ordeal. He had been sleeping on and off all day, and I had hardly left his side.
But now, it was time for us to venture out of our tent and into the forest.
With a gentle hand on his arm, I shook him out of his sleep. “Enzo,” I whispered, my voice barely audible. “It’s time.”
His eyes fluttered open, and for a moment, a flicker of confusion passed across his features. But then, realization dawned on him, and he nodded, reaching for my hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze beneath the blanket.
We dressed in silence, keeping our movements careful and deliberate so as not to wake anyone in the adjacent tents. We had to be quiet, and we had to slip out of the camp and back in without being seen.
After all, we couldn’t exactly have people asking where we were going;
