34. LUCAS
Something was wrong.
My beast was restless. I couldn’t shake the thought that something was wrong, but I didn’t know what. Nate assured me that Angel was fine when I talked to him half an hour ago.
Sitting up, I ran a hand through my hair as I glanced over at Mason.
“What’s the matter?” he questioned. “The couch too hard for your liking?”
I growled at him.
The woman’s house was small, only big enough for her family and not for extra guests. We had offered to stay in case they needed something during the night, so she had made us beds in the living room.
Could that be the reason for its restlessness? Because I wasn’t at home in my own bed. I knew we were safe because guards were keeping an eye on the house and the portal.
“I’m going to get some fresh air,” I told him as I pulled on my boots.
Mason didn’t reply.
I moved as silently as I could to the front door. Pulling it open, I hesitated a moment and then stepped outside. The door clicked closed softly behind me.
