The fragrance of flowers intensified as he lifted his hand. Kathleen was taken aback that he had actually brought flowers. "Why didn't you go inside?" Shawn inquired. "I was waiting for you," Kathleen replied, glancing at the flowers he held. "What's this about?" Shawn offered her the flowers and said, "By the time I wrapped everything up last night, it was really late, so I stayed over at Jeremy's. I met a client with him early this morning and just got back." Hearing his explanation, Kathleen thought that if Sarah hadn't sent that picture, she might have believed him. But it seemed she no longer had a reason to argue over his words. "Okay," she responded, taking the flowers, opening the door, and placing the lilies in a vase. "Have you eaten?" Shawn asked.
