Chapter 638
The punches landed heavily, each strike making Lydia Green gasp silently with pain.
Her mouth was gagged.
The relentless blows kept coming, dragging on as if it would never end.
Eventually, Lydia fainted from the pain.
When she regained consciousness, the room was empty.
Fear gripped her. She tried to sit up but couldn’t—her entire body screamed in agony, refusing to move.
She wanted to call out for help, but no sound could escape her lips.
Her hands wouldn’t lift; her mouth was sealed shut.
No matter how tired she was, the pain wouldn’t let her sleep. Every time she closed her eyes, it wrenched her awake.
The torment lasted until sunrise. Even then, Lydia couldn’t move.
At 8 a.m., Vivian Green came upstairs, worried that Lydia hadn’t come down for breakfast.
The door was locked.
“Lydia? Lydia, open the door! Are you in there? What’s wrong? Please, open the door!”
But Lydia couldn’t get up to open it.
She let out muffled sounds, hoping her mother would hear, but Vivian couldn’t.
