Chapter 52 The End of a Collaboration

Sabrina was furious. While her relationship with Felicia wasn't exceptionally close, she still considered Felicia a friend. Being manipulated like this by a friend was hard to swallow. "You plotted all this, didn't you? This morning, when you called out to me in front of him, you did it on purpose, didn't you? Because you knew the only way to get this man to leave you alone was to find a woman more attractive than you, and that unfortunate person turned out to be me, am I right?" It was crystal clear now that she had been manipulated by Felicia for the entire incident. While what Sabrina said was true, Felicia couldn't possibly admit it. Once she confessed, she'd be in deep trouble. Besides, after years of climbing the corporate ladder, Felicia had become exceptionally perceptive about danger. She could sense that the man who had entered with Sabrina had an imposing presence and was not someone to be trifled with. She was terrified of making him angry. As Felicia had suspected, Curtis was indeed infuriated. Felicia and Sabrina were colleagues, which meant that they were employees of his company. What Felicia had done behind the scenes to another colleague was far from making him happy. Though Curtis understood that some collaborations required certain sacrifices, having it play out like this, especially with Sabrina involved, was unsettling for him. "Where are the people from the PR department? Are they not here?" Curtis glanced around but didn't see anyone familiar. This implied that today's situation had nothing to do with the company, and it was solely about Felicia trying to harm Sabrina. Felicia was trembling all over. Had this man caught on to her schemes? "Just spit it out already. He's the big boss's assistant. I don't want to harm anyone, but if you intend to come after me, I won't hesitate to pull some strings." Sabrina usually appeared gentle and lacked aggression, which allowed her to maintain good relationships with most of her colleagues. However, Felicia was scared now. She hadn't anticipated that this man who came in with Sabrina held such a high position within the company. "I'm sorry; I didn't mean any harm. I only did this because this guy wouldn't leave me alone. He said he would set me free if I helped him find a more attractive woman, and I just… couldn't take it anymore. I'm sorry, Sabrina, I didn't mean to harm you." Felicia broke down in tears toward the end, but everyone could tell that it was but a lie. If it weren't for Felicia's greed and the benefits this man could offer her, Felicia definitely wouldn't have allowed things to escalate to this point. "I don't want to hear your justifications for what you've done. Felicia, our relationship ends here." Sabrina was furious, but she had no intention of harming Felicia. She knew well that some people, when pushed to their limits, could commit even more dreadful acts. Meanwhile, Curtis hadn't uttered a word. He had been silently observing everything. Curtis wasn't concerned about how Sabrina would handle her colleague. However, he had no intention of letting this Steven guy off easily. "I thought you looked familiar. I've seen your profile when I was organizing some documents at the company. We have some dealings together." Steven had been quiet the entire time ever since Curtis and Sabrina busted into the room. He had instantly recognized Curtis. Several years ago, he had met Curtis at a conference. Back then, Curtis wasn't as prominent as he was now. Today, Curtis was worth several times what he was back then. Of course, Steven had no idea that the woman he was interested in was connected to Curtis. Had he known, he would have controlled his foolish impulses. "I'm sorry, I didn't know you two knew each other. I just..." "You just wanted to take advantage of defenseless women, huh? Today it could've been Sabrina, and tomorrow it could be another person. Let me make it clear here: our companies' collaboration ends today," Curtis declared sternly, promptly crushing Steven's hopes. Felicia paled instantly. The PR department had been striving really hard to secure the collaboration with Steven. And now, due to her actions, the collaboration had fallen through. How in the world would she explain this to the PR department? "Sabrina, Sabrina, you can't let this collaboration fall through. The PR department has been working on it for over a month. If it falls apart now, all their efforts will be in vain." Felicia knew that convincing Curtis was futile, so she placed all her hopes on Sabrina. Sabrina let out a scornful laugh and looked at Felicia with disdain. "You seriously think I will help you? After you used me and attempted to ruin me?" Felicia's words made it seem like Sabrina had deliberately sabotaged the collaboration, but Sabrina wasn't foolish. She knew that Curtis was furious because of what Felicia had done. Even if another woman had been in Sabrina's place today, Curtis would have still intervened. In other words, the culprit who had caused this collaboration to fall through was ultimately Felicia herself. "You better start thinking how you're going to explain this to the PR Department. I will not help you, because you do not deserve any pity. If I had come here alone today, you would've been able to single-handedly ruin me." Although no actual harm came to her, Sabrina would never absolve Felicia of her crime. Felicia maintained a stoic expression, yet an abrupt disdain for Sabrina welled up within her. Did Sabrina have to be so relentless? She had invested tremendous effort in securing this job and in achieving everything she had now. And now, Sabrina seemed poised to unravel all of her hard work because of one wrongdoing. "Please! If you don't help me, they'll fire me." "That's not my problem. Did you not hear what I said? If I had come here alone today, I would have been in deeper shit than what you're facing right now, not to mention, you brought this upon yourself. You didn't think twice about me, so why should I care about you?" Sabrina was well aware that the world contained people who could do inexplicable and terrifying things when their hearts were filled with evil. Despite knowing that, finding herself entangled in such a situation still made her feel deeply uneasy.
