Scarlett's POV
After I made sure that Lucien really returned to the Nightshade Pack, along with the warriors whom I had just commanded to take him back, even if they had to use force to drag him back—and confirmed that he truly went with them, not just pretending to comply so he could follow us later despite his injuries—I glanced at the two warriors named Nick and Arnold and nodded to them.
"Let's go and verify it."
They nodded, though they looked at me with concern.
The forest was silent—only the soft crunch of fallen leaves underfoot could be heard. My body ached from every muscle, every bruise, every sore joint, yet I forced myself to keep pace with them. They slowed their pace to match mine without saying a word.
Fatigue clawed at my limbs, making it uncomfortable to move, yet I couldn't break down right now. The only people who could verify whether it was really the scout who had betrayed us and pushed us into this forest were Lucien and me.
