Chapter 106: Beyond Words
The glow of the morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a soft light across the bedroom. Taylor stirred, slowly awakening to the warmth of Alex’s arms wrapped around her. The previous night had been filled with emotions, tender moments, and whispered promises. As she blinked awake, Taylor couldn’t help but smile, a deep sense of contentment settling in her chest.
She turned slightly to face Alex, watching him as he slept peacefully beside her. His dark hair was tousled, and his breathing was slow and even, with a serene expression on his face. In that moment, Taylor felt an overwhelming wave of love for him. She had never imagined she could feel this deeply for someone, but here she was, completely and utterly in love with Alex.
Careful not to wake him, she gently extricated herself from his embrace and slipped out of bed. The apartment was quiet, the only sound being the distant hum of the city waking up outside. Taylor padded softly to the kitchen, her mind filled with thoughts of the life they were building together.
As she started to make coffee, her mind drifted to the conversation they had the previous night. The idea of starting a family with Alex had felt surreal, but now, in the light of day, it felt like the most natural. thing in the world. She could see it so clearly—their future together, filled with love, laughter, and the life they would create as a family.
The coffee machine whirred to life, filling the kitchen with the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Taylor poured two cups, adding just the right amount of sugar to Alex’s before carrying them back to the bedroom. She placed the cups on the nightstand, then sat on the edge of the bed, watching as Alex began to stir awake.
His eyes fluttered open, and when he saw her, a slow, sleepy smile spread across his face. "Good morning," he murmured, his voice rough with sleep.
"Good morning," Taylor replied, leaning down to press a soft kiss to his lips. "I made us coffee."
"Perfect," Alex said, sitting up and reaching for his cup. He took a sip, sighing contentedly as the warmth of the coffee spread through him. "You’re spoiling me, you know that?"
Taylor laughed softly, shaking her head. "If anyone’s spoiled, it’s me. You’ve given me everything I’ve ever wanted, Alex."
Alex set his cup down and took her hand, his expression turning serious. "I’m just getting started, Taylor. There’s so much more I want to give you."
Taylor’s heart was swelling at his words, and she squeezed his hand. "I’m ready for whatever comes next, as long as I’m with you."
They finished their coffee in comfortable silence, the bond between them growing stronger with each passing moment. As they sat together, Taylor felt a sense of calm wash over her, as if everything in the world was exactly as it should be.
But as much as she wanted to stay in this peaceful moment, there was something she needed to discuss with Alex—something that had been on her mind since their conversation the previous night. She turned to him, her expression serious.
"Alex, there’s something I need to ask you," she began, her voice tentative.
He looked at her, concern flickering in his eyes. "What is it, Taylor?"
She took a deep breath; that was needed to calm her down before she could go on. “Last night you said that you want to start a family. I have been thinking, and I want that more than anything, but I think we need to discuss what it is that we both think about it. Do we want it? Are we ready for it?”
Alex’s face became a little less severe, and he nodded his head slowly. He looked at me for a long time, then sighed deeply and said, “I get it, Taylor. It’s a huge decision, and it shouldn’t be made hastily. But what I told you is true; I do see that future for us, and I am willing to wait for the day when we are ready to make that step.”
Taylor felt a relief run through her when he said that. He smiled and replied, “I am happy to hear you say so.” “I just… I want to make sure that we are serious with this, that we really want this and are willing to work for it.”
Alex stretched out and touched her face gently with his large palms, looking at her tenderly, without anger or fear. Taylor, I am in. No matter what is waiting for us, we will fight it out. To you, I promise that.
She hugged him with all her heart and soul and closed her eyes to embrace the truth he had said. At that time she was very confident that destiny has made them to be together and that their love is strong enough to overcome any hardships.
In the course of the day, Taylor and Alex discovered that they have grown fond of each other and are in harmony all the time. During the morning they continued to bring other things of Taylor, joking and laughing not to notice how empty the apartment seemed before. It was as if they were in harmony as people who are on the same team and working on the same mission as they had become with each day.
In the evening, they had a break and began to sit on the couch. Taylor leaned on Alex, and they both looked at the sunset through the window. The sky was painted in pink and orange, the view that looked like a reproduction of what they had: warm and loving.
“Taylor,” Alex said suddenly, his voice raised loud enough to break the silence.
She looked at him, wondering. "Yes?"
He paused for a second, as though he was thinking very hard about what to say. “I have something in mind to do—some idea that has been in my mind for quite some time now.”
Taylor became nervous at the sternness of his voice. "What is it, Alex?"
He fished in his pocket for the small plush box that was in black velvet. Taylor almost choked on her spit; as soon as she saw what it was, her heart raced in her chest.
“Taylor,” Alex said softly, his voice trembling with emotion. “I love you so much more than anything in this, and you are my best friend, my partner, and the most important person in my life. I don’t want to even think about a life without you. That is why I want to spend the rest of my life with you and create the life we only have been dreaming about. ”
He opened the box to unveil a beautiful diamond ring that seemed to glow in the diminishing light. It is as if the words “Taylor, will you marry me?” popped out of his mouth.
Taylor looked at the ring and then at Alex, and she could not hold back her tears any longer. She could hardly speak as she nodded her head; there was simply too much that she was feeling inside.
"Yes, Alex,” she whispered with happiness, her voice shaking. It was with these words that the man proposed, to which the woman replied, or with the following words, "Yes, I will marry you.”
Alex put the ring on Taylor’s finger, and suddenly Taylor realized that she had been whole again. This was it—this was the moment she had been dreaming of, the moment that signified the start of the remaining years of their lives.
They leaned in and kissed, a kiss filled with all the love, hope, and joy they felt in that moment. It was a kiss that spoke of forever, a kiss that sealed the promise of their future together.
As they pulled away, Taylor looked down at the ring on her finger, a smile spreading across her face. "I can’t believe this is real," she said softly.
"It’s real," Alex replied, his voice filled with certainty. "And it’s just the beginning."
Taylor rested her head against his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath her ear. In that moment, she knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together, hand in hand, with love guiding them every step of the way.
