Half a month had passed, and the days had been unnervingly quiet. Nothing of significance had occurred.
The warriors we had stationed covertly around the sacrificial candidates reported no suspicious activity. The artifacts, rare plants, books, and other items associated with demons remained untouched, whether in museums or their natural locations. It was as though no one was even interested in them.
But despite this calm, none of us dared lower our guard.
