"I love you too, Aldrich," I said with conviction, feeling the warmth of his hand in mine.
After politely declining the host's invitation to stay for dinner, Aldrich and I left the vibrant celebration behind and made our way back to the safe house. The walk back was serene, with the mountain air cooling our flushed faces after such an eventful evening.
