“Oh, really? It sounds like you’re quite dissatisfied with the conditions here, Sir,” I responded without hesitation, my tone firm but composed. “A leaking wooden house? Honestly, I think the construction here is impressive enough to surprise even the most critical architects. What? Even with such decent accommodations, you’re still not content? Well, I suppose you’ll have to make do. After all, we’re on a mission, not a vacation, right?”
The thin young man’s face flushed with embarrassment. He glared at me with such intensity it seemed as though he was trying to bore holes through me with his eyes alone.
Before he could retaliate, Frank, the captain, intervened. “Yuri, behave yourself. You have the time to stand around and talk nonsense, but you don’t have time to work?”
The man, Yuri, appeared unwilling to challenge Frank’s authority. He spat on the ground in frustration, grabbed a nearby coil of rope, and walked off, grumbling under his breath.
