Chapter 660 How Is That Possible?
No one knew who was the pawn in this situation.
Two days later, the police reported a major international case that shocked the whole country.
The President of the North American Region of S.P. Corporation colluded with Dale Wagner to smuggle prohibited items to the States in the name of delivering supplies.
Although the goods were barred at the customs, the President of S.P. Corporation’s North American region, Ann, absconded before the police went to arrest her, and her whereabouts were still unknown.
The Atlantic City police department and Interpol teamed up with the Honduras police to root out S.P. Corporation.
The investigation found that S.P. Corporation had been involved in illegal transactions. On the surface, they were doing research and development of electronic products, but in fact, they used the company’s name as a cover for a variety of illegal activities. The illegal income would then be channeled through the company’s accounts.
It took constant vigilance to finally defeat evil. All of their criminal behavior managed to convict them behind bars.
To completely eradicate this tumor, the police did nearly a year of preparations. This matter became the talk of the city.
Denarius Corporation cooperated with the police and made a great contribution in this case, but it was not reported and only a few people knew about it.
When Lindsey heard that Zayn only approached Ann to get more evidence for the police, she was completely dumbfounded.
It was a Sunday that day.
"How is that possible?" Lindsey was in disbelief as she looked at Sieben who was gnawing on an apple. Her mind was in a mess and she could not make any sense of it.
Lindsey was at home learning how to make rose water at home from Mrs. Wendy. Although she was not very talented in cooking, she was quick to learn these things. When she heard Sieben say this, Lindsey almost dropped the small glass jar in her hand.
Sieben swallowed and spoke with a fresh scent of apples in her breath.
"How is it not possible?" Sieben threw the apple core into the trash can with precision. Her tone was calm as she said, "I bullied Soren into telling me, so how could it be fake?"
Sieben had no idea what kind of impact her words brought to Lindsey.
Lindsey stopped moving and looked at Sieben in a daze. "It can’t be...how is it possible?"
Her voice was like a murmur.
Sieben thought that Lindsey would be very happy, but Lindsey had lost her wits and only repeatedly said that it was impossible.
She put herself in Lindsey’s shoes and thought about it. Sieben also thought that it would be impossible if Soren broke up with her and got together with another woman just to help the police solve a case.
In fact, after the initial shock in Lindsey's heart, she only thought of one word, ‘Ridiculous!’
‘This is simply too ridiculous!’
Lindsey was depressed and resentful for so long. In the end, all of it was for nothing? She should not have resented Zayn because he did it all for justice, to help others.
Even though Lindsey had gradually come to terms with it, she still felt incredulous.
Lindsey had thought about Zayn's reasons for divorce countless times before, trying to find a shred of evidence that Zayn only did this because he had no other choice. However, she just told herself to stop her wishful thinking.
Then one day, someone suddenly told her that this was not her wishful thinking. It was the truth! Lindsey just felt that she was not as delighted as she imagined.
She could not make sense of the world at the moment.
"I've asked him so many times!" Lindsey suddenly said.
No one answered her. After a long time, she laughed bitterly to herself. "So many times...he never told me the truth...he just let me be when I misunderstood, blamed, scolded, and even hit him. I even hated him for so long!"
Lindsey just laughed hysterically as tears streamed down her face. She did not feel happy at all.
She only felt like a fool. She used to think that Zayn wronged her. Whenever she saw Zayn, she could not help but feel aggrieved and sad. What was the use of it all?
Sieben looked at her and was shocked. She quickly pulled out a bunch of tissues and wiped Lindsey’s face hastily. "Lindsey...don't cry!"
As she said that, she blamed herself and felt apprehensive. “Did I say the wrong thing? I'm sorry...I thought you’d be happy to know.”
To Sieben, knowing that someone she loved so much never fell in love with another person was something to be happy about. She had not experienced the despair and hatred for the person she loved so much, like what Lindsey had experienced, so she could not understand.
Sieben was still very naive when it came to love.
That was because her loved one protected her well and did not want her to suffer.
Hate and love were the same. Both were such strong emotions that were exhausting. Sincerely hating and loving someone used the same amount of effort. Someone just told Lindsey that she hated the wrong person and that she should not hate him because he did what he had to do. That was why Lindsey was so doubtful.
Lindsey cried and laughed for a long time before finally calming down.
Sieben was still looking at her nervously, but Lindsey stood up on her own.
"Zayn Guggenheim!" Lindsey gritted her teeth and spat out his name with ruthlessness in her eyes. Sieben had never seen Lindsey like this before and thought that Lindsey would probably just stab Zayn right now if she could. Sieben’s mind was racing with thoughts of how she should stop Lindsey if she really got impulsive.
However, there was no other action from Lindsey after saying his name. After a long time, Lindsey slowly said, “You wanna be a f*cking hero and I deserve to be kept in the dark?”
After saying that, Lindsey took a deep breath. Sieben guessed that Lindsey was suppressing some kind of violent emotion.
Now, it seemed like Lindsey was no longer as agitated as she was earlier.
Lindsey's eyes became calm again. She looked down and continued pounding the rose petals for the rose water that she had just made halfway. She looked back to normal.
However, Sieben was still so traumatized by Lindsey’s sudden cries and laughter that she did not dare to relax. She just nibbled on another apple and watched Lindsey nervously as she was afraid that Lindsey would suddenly be in a bad mood again.
By the afternoon, Lindsey seemed to be normal, so Sieben finally felt at ease and got up to help Mrs. Wendy in the kitchen.
Soon after Sieben went to the kitchen, there was a knock on the front door.
Dezi went for a calligraphy class that day, so Shaun said that he would pick Dezi up and come over to see them, which Lindsey agreed to.
Shaun had not come over in a long time, and Dezi also asked why his uncle had not come to see him recently.
When Lindsey heard the doorbell, she went over to open the door. Since she was distracted, she did not even look at the monitor first and pulled the door open just in time to see the man standing at the door.
