Chapter 655 Come To Terms With It

Zayn said it word for word with a bone-chilling coldness. After saying these ambiguous words, Zayn resumed his pace, but his aura was suddenly stronger. Quentin let out a long sigh and hurriedly followed Zayn. Lindsey was unaware that the man who had been hugged actually showered three times after that. By the evening, Lindsey’s mood had settled down. After so long, Lindsey had learned how to come to terms with herself. She rubbed her brow, picked up her things, stood up, and locked her office door before leaving. There were not many employees left on this floor. She got to the elevator lobby and pressed the down button. The elevator that was on its way down from the top floor stopped and its doors opened in front of her. Lindsey was about to walk in, but when she saw the man standing inside, she paused for a moment. She quickly regained composure and nodded to greet him as she stepped inside. She looked calm and her tone was flat as she said, "Mr. Arthur." Arthur was in the elevator with his assistant that usually followed him everywhere. However, Lindsey did not have much interaction with the assistant before and did not even know his name, so she just nodded and smiled at him faintly. Arthur was incredibly tall and stood out from the crowd. Only Lindsey went into the elevator on her floor. The other two female employees of Hemera in the elevator that got in from the upper floors stole glances at Arthur from time to time and blushed. "Ms. Juhl." Arthur also nodded and smiled at Lindsey. His presence was so strong. As the elevator doors slowly closed, his presence gradually became oppressive to Lindsey. She was standing in front of him with her back facing him, but she felt an inexplicable sense of discomfort. Due to this discomfort, Lindsey even overlooked the fact that Arthur could have taken the President's private elevator. Instead, he decided to squeeze into the “commoner’s elevator” with all the ordinary employees who were getting off work at the end of the day. The other two female employees also greeted Lindsey with a smile. When they saw Arthur smiling at Lindsey, they felt like their souls left their bodies. This man was too charming. When they greeted Arthur earlier, Arthur just gave them a very cold nod. Why did he smile at Lindsey? The two female employees did not understand why Arthur would suddenly be in a good mood until they got out of the elevator. As for Lindsey, she did not think much about it. She went straight to the entrance after she got out of the elevator and somehow had the feeling that Arthur was staring at her, which made Lindsey a little panicked and subconsciously want to escape. Lindsey did not drive this morning, so she was about to take a taxi back, but before she reached the curb, she was called back by the man following her. "Lindsey, wait!" Arthur pulled Lindsey's arm from behind. Lindsey was in a hurry, so when she looked back the moment he pulled her, her feet were still moving forward and she almost fell. Arthur subconsciously stretched out his other hand to support her, but Lindsey just swayed a little and stood firm. She moved her arm slightly and broke free from Arthur's grip, then swept a strand of hair that was stuck to her cheek away. She looked at him puzzled and asked, "What's wrong?" Since she was suddenly pulled and nearly fell, Lindsey's voice carried a hint of displeasure. Arthur pointed to the busy road and asked, "Are you trying to hail a cab?" Lindsey nodded and looked at him with puzzled eyes as she wondered what Arthur was trying to say. "It’s not easy to get a car at this time of day," Arthur said unhurriedly with a charming accent, "I can give you a ride home since I’m heading back too." Ever since Lindsey felt that Arthur might be romantically interested in her, she had been avoiding him. Arthur was Dezi’s half-brother. Even though Arthur stopped mentioning this, Lindsey already accepted it. To her, Arthur was the same generation as Dezi. Lindsey could not accept that Arthur might have feelings for her. If it were other men, Lindsey could still reject them openly. However, Arthur had never openly expressed his interest in her, and with his relationship with Dezi, Lindsey did not want their situation to get complicated. Lindsey already knew that Arthur would be in Hemera today, but she did not attend the meeting because of these considerations. She felt that it was either her own illusion or that Arthur had a momentary lapse of judgment. Since she knew that there would be no outcome for them, she should kill it in time before things develop into an awkward situation. Lindsey did not want to break her life that finally settled down after having gone through so much turmoil. Therefore, Lindsey's first reaction after hearing Arthur's words was to wave her hand and refuse. "It’s alright, I still have something to do, so you can go back first." "You have something to do?" Arthur's light-colored eyebrows were slightly raised. "Is it telling the taxi driver to take you on another long detour before going home?" At first, Lindsey did not react to what he meant by that and subconsciously said, "Huh?" After a few seconds, she realized that Arthur was talking about the last time he offered to give her a ride home. Lindsey refused back then and deliberately had the driver take her on a long detour before going back to Opal Suites. Lindsey remembered that she gave him the same reason last time. Having her lie exposed on the spot, even if Lindsey felt she was no longer thin-skinned, her cheeks suddenly turned red. “It was very late that day, so I had someone follow you because I was worried that something might happen,” Arthur explained. When he saw Lindsey's reaction, he could not help but smile. He was usually not so blunt and just wanted to see Lindsey's reaction. He had a feeling that her reaction would be really cute, and sure enough, the result did not disappoint at all. "Let's go." Arthur did not want Lindsey to feel embarrassed for too long, so he spoke again, "It's not easy to hail a cab now." He probably did his homework properly and knew that it was not a good time to take a taxi since it was rush hour. Lindsey felt that it would be so awkward if she were to reject him again, so she just decided to follow Arthur to his exclusive Maybach. Arthur had a driver today, so Lindsey sat in the backseat with Arthur. The car was very comfortable, but this still did not ease Lindsey’s embarrassment and she was still blushing. Moreover, with Arthur sitting next to her and his faint cologne wafting to her, Lindsey just felt more fidgety. She just hoped with all her heart that the road would be shorter. However, the journey home which usually did not feel as far, seemed extraordinarily long today. The road was also very congested and Lindsey felt that Arthur's driver was driving at snail speed.
