Chapter 196 I’d Like To Go On A Vacation

Starting the conversation was the hardest part. After Lindsey said that, her next words came out without much thought. “I don’t want to stay in the city, but somewhere else. I’d like to go on a vacation somewhere a little further away. I don’t actually have to tell you, but I was just afraid that Grandpa would be worried.” After taking a deep breath, Lindsey continued, "It’s best if you and Ms. Blue can keep a low profile so that Grandpa wouldn’t find out. I’m thinking of leaving for a month or two, so you should come back more frequently to accompany Grandpa." Lindsey did not have to say this, but she just could not ignore the discomfort that Zayn’s new relationship with Lana Blue brought to her and she could not face Zayn with her usual attitude. This child should not have appeared at this juncture. It shattered all of Lindsey’s plans, so she needed some time and space to regroup her thoughts. She felt that she might have a case of baby brain because her mind was in a mess. At first, there was no change in Zayn's expression, but the words, "you and Ms. Blue", touched his nerves and his eyes became fierce. In fact, Zayn did not even remember what Lana looked like. Lindsey was still rambling on. "We’ll still proceed with the divorce. If Grandpa’s still in good health, you can confess to him. If he’s not well, then you’ll have to hide it for a while." Lindsey sounded so understanding and considerate. She even thought of how he should develop his new relationship. "Is this why you asked me to come back?" Zayn felt that Lindsey was deliberately saying such things to provoke him, but Lindsey's brain was just muddled. Those two red bars in the afternoon crashed into her already weakening heart’s defenses and shattered it to pieces. However, she had to pick herself up and build up her walls again piece by piece to continue pretending that nothing was wrong. The only thing she was certain about was that she had to stay far away from Zayn and the mansion. He could never find out about this pregnancy. As to why Zayn could never find out, Lindsey did not think too much about it as she did not dare to. Lindsey could only tell herself that Zayn was with another woman now, so if he knew, he would surely not accept this child. As if thinking this way would reassure her thoughts in the bottom of her heart. "Zayn..." Her unexpressed words were abruptly blocked by the man’s cool lips. Lindsey forgot to resist this familiar and intimate feeling until the tip of the man's tongue made its way into her mouth. Zayn felt a sting in the tip of his tongue and froze for a moment. Then, he was fiercely pushed away by Lindsey. "Don't touch me." Her eyes widened and the anger in her eyes spread across her face. Her reaction was so great that before Zayn had time to move, he saw Lindsey turn around to heave. Although nothing came out, both their expressions changed at the same time. Lindsey turned pale as she was afraid that Zayn would probe further. However, Zayn could still taste the metallic feeling in his mouth and his expression turned cold when he thought about her angered face as well as her heaving stance. He sneered and said, “Why? Am I that disgusting to you?” Lindsey looked up at him. Although it was only for a split second, Zayn still caught the dazed look on her face as if she was saying, "How do you know?" Earlier when Lindsey thought of Zayn's scandals with those women, she told herself not to care. However, it was clear that her body’s reaction was more honest than her heart. As soon as Lindsey thought that Zayn had done the same thing with other women, she could not accept such intimate actions between the two of them again. At this point, she had no way to refute, which made the atmosphere more tense. Zayn looked at Lindsey for a while. The joy of receiving her call was completely gone. "Lindsey Juhl, you don’t have a heart." Lindsey was dumbfounded as she watched the man's departing back. In the end, she did not speak. She must leave the mansion. It was just that the old man... This growing life in her womb urged her to hurry up and think of a way to leave. The next day, Lindsey got up and went straight to the old man. She repeated what she said to Zayn last night. "Have you decided where you’re going?" The old man was not surprised and still looked at her with the same kindness. Lindsey shook her head. "Not yet." Actually, it did not matter where she went. She would be fine as long as she avoided everyone in the mansion and most of all, Zayn Guggenheim. The longer it dragged on, the more she wanted to stay permanently and tell them the truth. "It’s nice to travel in this weather." The old man's face revealed a nostalgic look as he recalled those times when his body was still strong enough to travel around the world. In the end, the old man pretended to mention it inadvertently. "Two days ago, I saw a few news articles about Zayn. I was furious at the time, but after thinking about it, why would Zayn do such a thing?" The old man said this as he observed Lindsey's reaction. Since he saw it, Lindsey must also be aware, but the girl in front of him had a stoic face. "Sigh...forget it. Grandpa’s too nosy. Lindsey, just go wherever you want to. It’ll get colder after a while, so come back soon." After saying that, the old man pushed his wheelchair by himself to watch the morning news. Lindsey froze for a moment before leaving. She thought about it. She had no friends or relatives in Atlantic City. This matter would have been good news if it happened to someone else, but all she could do was hide because she was afraid of others finding out. The only way was to leave and find another place to settle down. She would just accompany this child that she could not keep until its final moments. Whenever Lindsey left the house, she would be followed by a few bodyguards. She told the old man that she did not want them by her side, so he ordered them to retreat probably because he still felt sorry for what Zayn had done to her. Lindsey booked a flight ticket to another state and left Atlantic City all alone. Quentin, who was hiding behind a pillar at the airport, saw that Lindsey boarded the flight and quickly called Zayn. "President, the Young Madam has already boarded the plane. She doesn’t look too good. Are you sure you don't need someone to follow her?" Quentin was lucky not to be sent to South Africa. During this period, he had been extra sensitive to any of Zayn's instructions. Zayn's face was cold. He reached out and rubbed his brow. He was indeed worried about Lindsey, but the words that came out of his mouth were unbearably cold and stiff. "No need! Do you not have any work to do? Who asked you to follow her?" Quentin immediately shut his mouth and thought, ‘You didn’t stop me when I told you I was coming...’ Even though Zayn ordered not to have Lindsey followed, Quentin still kept two people on the job to be on the safe side. Just in case something really happened to Lindsey, at least they could report to him at once. Lindsey wrapped her jacket tightly around her body. The discomfort she felt when the plane took off had passed and she was a little drowsy again. However, before she could doze off, a tiny hand grabbing onto the corner of her shirt got her attention.
