Chapter 176 It’s Bullsh*t That She’s More Suited To Liam Wilford
“Liam Wilford concealed this very well. We can’t find anything from the hospital and even after hacking the hospital's system, we only got a name, Sophie Leger. There were no photos either. I infiltrated the hospital to investigate further but was found by Liam's men. He seems to be very concerned about this woman."
Zayn's voice had some emotion as he showed some concern. "Is your injury serious?"
At that time, Soren was so startled that he almost dropped his phone. He did not expect that the always cold-hearted President would actually care about their well-being. "President, I'm fine."
"Soren, I’ll help you take revenge," Zayn slowly said.
Zayn would not let them get away with hurting his people.
Soren wanted to say something but felt that it would just be awkward. After some silence, he continued, "Sophie Leger is Liam Wilford’s fiancée from an arranged marriage set at an early age. But because her parents died more than ten years ago and the Leger family was left with nothing, the Wilfords broke off the engagement with the Legers. Sophie Leger also became more low-key, so no one knew where she was or what she was doing. I took a risk to take a picture of her and I’ve sent it to your phone."
What was Sophie Leger’s illness? She had already broken off her engagement with Liam Wilford, yet she still made Liam so nervous that he did not dare to let anyone find out about her. Was someone trying to harm Sophie?
Liam Wilford was so paranoid that he dared to hurt someone so blatantly?
The thought of Liam Wilford made Zayn think of what Lindsey said to him. It was bullsh*t that she was more suited to Liam Wilford.
There was a flash of hostility in his eyes. Zayn said over the phone, "Take a good rest during this period. You’ve worked hard."
After he hung up the phone, Zayn felt that there was something between Lindsey and Liam that he did not know about.
Liam had a fiancée. Although their engagement was broken, it was clear that he still cared a lot about this fiancée, so it was impossible for him to be involved with Lindsey.
The answer seemed to surface because of this and the woman named Sophie Leger, but it sank to the bottom of the sea in a flash.
Zayn stroked his chin as Quentin came up from behind and handed Zayn his phone. There was a picture of a woman on it.
The woman in the picture was bathed in sunlight. Her features were exquisite, but she had an unusual paleness about her.
Zayn nodded gently, signaling that he knew, and turned to go back to the ward.
The first thing he did was to reach out and touch Lindsey's forehead. Seeing that her temperature was not as high as before, he put his mind to ease and sat at the side.
Lindsey had only been back for a short while, but the two of them seemed to be spending a lot of time in the hospital.
Zayn’s gaze landed on Lindsey’s face when he heard a commotion from outside the ward. Soon after, his phone lit up.
Before he had time to look, the door of the ward was pushed open.
"Grandpa." Although the old man was sitting in a wheelchair, his authoritative aura was undiminished. The old man first looked at Lindsey, then he looked at Zayn coldly with furrowed brows. "Come out now."
The grandfather-grandson pair stood and sat in the corridor of the hospital ward.
"Tell me, how did such an incident happen?" The old man thumped his cane on the floor.
Zayn lowered his gaze and did not speak.
The old man let out a long sigh and simply did not know what to do with his grandson. A few moments later, he waited until he soothed his breath before he said, "You and Lindsey are still not back together, huh?"
The look on Zayn's face changed for a moment.
The old man still wanted to say something when the nurse's voice came from behind him, "The patient is awake."
They had stopped the news of Lindsey's hospitalization from leaking out so that people with bad intentions would not take the opportunity to strike again.
When he heard the nurse, the old man swallowed the rest of his words. He then raised his cane and smacked Zayn. "Go on in then! What are you still doing here?"
Zayn looked at the door of the ward and the emotions in his eyes surged, but eventually, they turned into silence. He looked away and said, "You guys go. I still have work to do."
After saying that, he walked away in the opposite direction.
The old man wanted to stop him, but his outstretched hand dropped and he sighed.
What an imbecile!
Thus, after Lindsey woke up, the first person she saw in her ward aside from the nurse was actually Grandpa Guggenheim.
He was sitting in a wheelchair. Lindsey hurriedly got up, but because she had slept for too long, she fell on the bed again.
The old man said with concern, "You’re just getting better, so don't move around."
Mrs. Wendy behind him went up and helped Lindsey to raise the pillow behind her so that she could lean back comfortably.
"Grandpa, why did you come over?" Lindsey asked.
Her voice was still weak and it sounded dry and hoarse, so Mrs. Wendy poured her another glass of water and fed it to her with a heartache.
"I heard that you had an accident, so Grandpa came over to see you." The old man looked at her with a smile. The sorrow in his heart did not show the slightest bit.
"How do you feel? Are you feeling better?"
"Much better," Lindsey replied. In fact, she did not have much feeling when she was sick. She just woke up and her fever had gone down. She only felt weak and her head hurt a little.
Lindsey scanned the room and only saw a few of them, so she asked, "Grandpa, where’s Zayn?"
Hearing her mention Zayn, the old man's eyes lit up and he did not seem like an old man anymore. He then suddenly looked at Lindsey with some hard feelings.
The old man's health was deteriorating and this kind of heartbreaking feeling flashed from time to time when Lindsey saw him.
"Zayn was here just now. This bastard has some urgent business again and left before you wake up. Grandpa will call him to come back."
Lindsey looked dull and did not have much of a reaction as she said, "Grandpa, forget it. Let him work."
How could she not see the hope and expectation in the old man's eyes? However, Lindsey's heart is in a mess now and she could not even think properly.
The light under the old man's eyes dimmed again.
After he left, Quentin carefully asked Lindsey about the details of her time on the ship.
At that time, Lindsey was not in the right state of mind because of the overwhelming fear. She could not even control her actions, much less pay attention to what was under her feet.
"I think that something tripped me," Lindsey said, then shook her head. "I really can't remember."
She had just woken up, so of course, Quentin would not ask more questions. He just nodded his head and prepared to leave.
"Quentin." Lindsey suddenly called out to him. "Zayn...is he okay?"
Quentin revealed a smile and replied, "Yes, he’s fine. He just had a little fever, but he still insisted on going to the office."
Lindsey did not say anything else and just looked a little stunned.
Although she was terrified last night, she could remember what happened. After she fell into the water, Zayn had followed suit without a care for anything else. He hugged her tightly until they were back ashore. She could clearly remember what he said to her when he was embracing her, that he would never leave her alone again.
Did that mean he wanted to follow her in life and in death?
