Chapter 171 Won’t Live More Than Six Months
Allie Wilford was quiet for several days. The outside was calm because no one knew what she did that night.
She also heard about Sophie Leger’s condition and that her brother was ready to get Lindsey to go back.
In the end, Lindsey still stayed in the country.
Allie felt a little regretful. If Lindsey had gone, Zayn would have been furious and it would have been another good show.
However, this also made Allie more curious about Lindsey's significance to her big brother.
The relationship between Lindsey and Zayn dropped to a freezing point. Even Allie felt it, so she pressured Shaun more frequently while also manipulating the board of directors of the company to go against the Guggenheims.
Sometimes, Lindsey's words were not as impactful as hers.
One day, Allie found a suitable time to make an overseas phone call to Liam.
"Brother, did you miss me?"
Liam’s voice was light and emotionless. "Did you get into trouble again?"
Allie pouted and felt a little aggrieved. "I didn’t! Brother, I heard that Sophie..."
Before she could finish her sentence, she was rudely interrupted by the man, "You don't need to care about her condition."
"Brother..." Allie did not expect Liam would actually talk to her like this and her voice sounded even more pitiable.
"Tell me, what is it?" Liam’s attitude towards Allie was much worse than before.
Allie bit her lower lip and there was a sinister glare in her eyes as she blamed everything on Lindsey. "Brother, what exactly was the deal between you and Lindsey?"
Liam let out a light laugh over the phone. "You finally can't help it?"
Allie did not say anything, but Liam's voice over the phone was suddenly stern. "Zayn Guggenheim isn’t a man you can afford to touch. I advise you to kill your feelings for him before it's too late."
Her little notion had been exposed, but Allie did not panic. "Brother, if I can get Zayn, won't our family gain another pillar of support?"
"Allie Wilford! Behave yourself!" Liam’s eyes suddenly twitched. He could tolerate everything except this.
"Brother! I’m your sister, so how can you have so little faith in me? How do you know I can't do it?" Allie's fixation towards Zayn was no less than her brother's towards Sophie. "You only need to tell me what’s the deal with you and Lindsey."
In fact, Allie had already vaguely guessed it, but she could not be sure.
Liam was silent again. This was Allie’s life after all. He could only pave the way for her, but it was up to her to walk down the path.
In the end, he still loved his sister, so he said, "You don’t need to know anything else and only need to know that Lindsey won’t live more than six months."
His voice was flat and he did not even sound sinister. He said it so lightly as if he was talking about the weather and not a person’s life.
Allie was a little surprised.
After hanging up the phone, Allie was still thinking about this matter.
She wanted to know what would happen if Zayn knew about this.
Allie knew that her brother would not lie to her, so if this was true, she was afraid that with Zayn’s obsession over Lindsey, he would go mad and take revenge on her brother.
She still had some wits about her and was not completely blinded by love. She still cared about her family more than anything.
After all, everything she had was given to her by the Wilfords.
If she told Zayn, she really did not know what he would do, but this was something she could use to make a big deal out of.
Allie had her eye on Zayn because his coldness triggered her desire to subjugate him. Moreover, everything about Zayn was to her preference. Most importantly though, was the Guggenheim empire that came with him. If she could marry Zayn, then the Wilfords would have never-ending prosperity.
If Lindsey could do it, why not her?
Zayn's love and care for Lindsey made Allie extremely jealous.
Zayn was sitting at his office with a gloomy face as someone was reporting to him. It was unclear whether he was even listening.
When Hemera and Wilford teamed up to go against Denarius, Zayn did not even frown.
Finally, Quentin said, "The directors have decided on a few locations for the mid-year reception and will invite some industry partners to be there. President, do you need me to send you the proposal?"
"It's fine. They can decide."
Zayn had always been unenthusiastic about such events and rarely attended the annual reception.
Quentin saw Zayn’s glum face and he could not help but shiver. It was good that the President did not go, otherwise, a delightful annual reception would have become a requiem.
......
Since Shaun had been taken away by that young lady, he did not look for Lindsey in days.
Lindsey secretly let out a sigh of relief, but after work, she saw Shaun again.
She joked, "Did you lie to that little lady this time?"
Shaun smiled as if he was troubled and said, "That little lady’s been coaxed. Get in, I have something to say to you."
On the way home, Lindsey still did not let him go. She looked nosy as she said, "Brother, I heard that this little lady’s chasing you. She’s so pretty, why don’t you consider it?"
Lindsey was joking, but Shaun misunderstood. He looked at the road and the enthusiasm in his voice faded. "She’s still a child."
"Didn't you say she’s 21 years old?" Although the age difference was a bit large, she was an adult at least.
Shaun was speechless and did not want to talk more about this, so he simply changed the topic. "I heard that Denarius' mid-year reception will be held soon. Did you receive the invitation?"
Lindsey was stunned, then shook her head. "No, I haven't even heard of it."
She was not too competent as a President as she was clueless about the big events among her peers.
As if he had expected it, Shaun said, "This news only came out recently and the exact day hasn’t been decided yet. You’ll surely get an invitation then. Will you go?"
Lindsey thought about it and shook her head. "I don't think so. All the staff at Denarius knows me, so if I go, it’ll probably be awkward."
Hearing her words, Shaun smiled and said, "If you don't go, then I won't go either."
"Brother, you can go if you want. Don't worry about me."
"Silly girl, I didn’t feel like going either." Shaun smiled and rubbed her head.
Shaun stopped the car at the intersection in front of her neighborhood and apologized, "Yvette Wendell also lives here, so to avoid unnecessary trouble, I won’t send you over."
Looking at his fleeing stance, Lindsey somehow felt like laughing. She felt that Shaun seemed to have taken off his veneer of elegance and became more fun.
She found Yvette and Shaun’s relationship amusing. One was running while the other was chasing, and it was inexplicably loving.
Her relaxed mood turned into mixed feelings when she saw what was at the door.
