Chapter 144 You Deceived Me
Loi looked at her with some suspicion, "You didn't deceive me?"
"No, I didn't deceive you this time. He will handle the matters at home, so I don't need to worry about it," Charlotte replied.
Loi expressed gratitude, "Really? Thank you so much. I'll treat you to dinner later. I'll leave these fabrics here for now. You can take another look later. When I make some money, I'll come back to you to custom-make some jewelry."
Charlotte smiled wryly, "You're already planning to splurge as soon as you make money."
Loi nodded eagerly, "Of course! Don't girls work hard for these things? Otherwise, what's the point of making money?"
Charlotte nodded gently, "You're right."
"Are you busy this afternoon?" Loi asked.
"Not too busy. Do you have something else you want to discuss with me? If it's about shopping, I might not be able to go because I still have some work to do," Charlotte replied.
Loi hurriedly said, "I'll bring some finished fabric samples this afternoon for you to take a look at."
"You handle things quite well, but bringing finished products might be too much," Charlotte remarked.
Loi shook his head, "For making a piece of clothing, three meters of fabric should be enough. I'll bring slightly larger samples so you can see the effect."
"Okay, that works. I'll show you the new designs we've made, so you can bring more suitable fabrics," Charlotte agreed.
If it weren't for the matter at hand, she would definitely go to his company with Loi this afternoon. It would also help finalize the fabrics.
Loi left in high spirits after resolving the major issue in his company, feeling naturally good.
After leaving Luan's company, Charlotte went straight to the mall and bought herself two outfits as a reward...
In the afternoon, Charlotte was still in the production department making the necklace for Sanira.
Her phone had been ringing several times beside her, but she hadn't heard it.
If it weren't for someone reminding her, Charlotte might not have noticed the missed calls until after work.
She looked at the caller ID on her phone and furrowed her brow.
It seemed that Luan had already informed them about this matter.
"What's the matter?" Charlotte answered the call.
Sanira's voice came through the phone, filled with sarcasm, "Charlotte, are you really going to do this? You just didn't like me, so you had Luan end our cooperation. We've known each other for so long. Do you think I can't see through your little tricks?"
Charlotte didn't intend to continue being polite with her, "Yes, I'm in charge of all matters concerning this brand. But for such matters, it's up to my husband to make the final decision. I can't make such decisions on my own. You can ask him if you want."
Sanira's tone turned unpleasant, "Would things have turned out like this without your interference?"
"I hope you understand that the fabrics you brought were indeed not suitable for us. It's normal to change our minds about the new spring collection. If we delay any longer, we won't have time to release it," Charlotte explained.
"But it's not right to suddenly switch to using materials from another company!" Sanira retorted.
"I don't want to waste any more words with you. If there's nothing else, I'll hang up. I'm still working right now," Charlotte said.
Sanira gritted her teeth, "A few days ago, I decided not to take the necklace you ordered."
"In that case, you'll probably have to pay a penalty fee. According to the contract we signed that day, you can take a look. If you back out last minute, you have to pay three times the price of the product itself. Are you sure you don't want it?"
Customized items cannot be returned or exchanged, so to prevent such incidents from happening, Luan had established this rule long ago.
After all, the value of those gems was considerable. If someone deliberately caused trouble, he wouldn't be able to continue his business.
Sanira wasn't foolish enough to pay three times the penalty fee. "I won't tell you about this matter. I'll just go talk to your husband directly. He must give me an explanation."
Charlotte pursed her lips and said calmly, "Before you called me, he probably already talked to you over the phone, and everything should have been explained clearly. Is there anything else you want him to handle?"
"Charlotte, let me tell you, don't think I'll just let go of this easily. We've known each other since childhood. Why should you, a newcomer, be by his side?"
Charlotte could tell from her agitation that it was because of her feelings towards Luan that she was saying such things.
Feeling amused by her words, Charlotte couldn't help but laugh, "Do you even know what you're talking about?"
Charlotte didn't have the patience to listen to her ramble any further, so she hung up the phone directly.
Ignoring her work on hand, Charlotte felt annoyed at the thought of the effort she had put into making the necklace for that woman.
"You handle this necklace yourself. I have something to do. I'll be back soon," Charlotte said to the staff.
"Yes, madam."
This time, Charlotte didn't even knock on the door. She walked straight into Luan's office in a huff.
"Your childhood sweetheart called me again, saying I snatched you away from her. What should we do now?"
"Why did you come over in such a rush? Is it because of this?" Luan chuckled and ruffled Charlotte's hair. "I told you not to worry about this. I'll handle it."
Charlotte said calmly, "She called me and asked why she couldn't be with you."
Seeing Charlotte so angry, Luan knew it must be because she cared about him, so he felt pleased and said, "She called me too, but I didn't answer. She's probably sulking by herself now."
"Really?"
Luan nodded noncommittally, "There's no need to deceive you about this."
Charlotte stood up with a look of pleasant surprise, feeling relieved to have vented her anger.
They were already married, yet their lives were still being disrupted by others. No one would like such a situation.
Seeing her reaction, Luan smiled faintly, "Alright, don't be angry. If Sanira calls again later, should I let you answer?"
Charlotte glanced at Luan and said satisfactorily, "That would be nice."
After Charlotte finished speaking, Luan's phone suddenly rang without warning.
