Chapter 980 Scratched
All that was needed was for the lawyers from both sides to confirm there were no issues, and then we could proceed with the signing.
It was not particularly difficult.
The whole process took less than half an hour.
After signing, Sally said, "Do you have plans for the afternoon? I was thinking of taking the kids to Grace Cathedral. Would you like to join us?" I shook my head, smiling. "I have some things to attend to later, so I can't make it. How about we get together for dinner tonight? Bring the kids, and we'll all go out for a meal."
She looked at me, looking a bit gossipy. "I heard everything with Newburn Village has been settled. What else do you have going on? Don't tell me you have a date…"
I smiled slightly. "A date? No, I really do have things to do."
She smiled teasingly. "Alright, alright, then. Let's plan for tonight. Come on, I'll walk you out. I have another signing ceremony to attend soon."
She rarely came to Tully City, so naturally, she had a lot of business to handle. I did not ask for details either.
After going down with her, I did not expect to run into Idris at the Sanchez Corp building.
What was he doing here?
"Huh, what is Mr. Young doing at Sanchez Corp? Isn't the Newburn Village development rights issue..." Minerva murmured softly behind me.
I was too curious, involuntarily looking toward the man getting out of his car. Did he have business with Sanchez Corp?
"Mr. Young is here," Sally noticed him and warmly greeted him.
They shook hands and exchanged pleasantries, apparently also having business discussions planned for today. Seeing me, Idris's expression was neutral, showing no clear emotions, but I still sensed his gaze was colder than usual.
Thinking about last night, I pressed my lips together, deciding not to go over and say hello. After Sally dropped me off at the Sanchez Corp building entrance, she said, "Ms. Scott, I won't see you off then. I have a signing ceremony to attend shortly. Let's meet up tonight."
I nodded, smiling as I watched them enter the building.
"Ms. Scott, Mr. Young and Sanchez Corp are signing a contract?" Minerva asked, full of confusion.
I did not respond, as I was equally curious. After a moment of thought, I told her, "Go find out what cooperation Young Corporation and Sanchez Corp might have."
She nodded. "Okay, I'll do that now. And you...?"
"I have things to do this afternoon," I replied, then continued, "Just text me after you've found out. Our work in Tully City is basically done. I still have things to handle here. After you're done this afternoon, take some time to rest. There are plenty of scenic spots in Tully City. Go and see whatever you like, but be careful. The expenses will be reimbursed."
Her eyes immediately lit up, surprised. "Really?"
I hummed in affirmation, glanced at the time, and realized it was almost noon. I quickly took a taxi to Astoria's place.
I had planned my time, but I had not expected to find Lucas having another episode the moment I arrived. Astoria was frightened and disoriented with swollen eyes, trembling outside the room.
Seeing me, she breathed a sigh of relief and said with a choked voice, "Ms. Scott, Mr. Lucas, he..."
I guessed the situation from the noises inside the room and was about to enter when Astoria grabbed me, saying, "Ms. Scott, Mr. Lucas has lost his mind. It's too dangerous for you to go in. Have you forgotten what happened yesterday?"
I hesitated for a moment.
Then, a loud ‘bang!’ came from inside, sounding like something had been knocked over.
I became incredibly worried. I looked at Astoria and said, "You go downstairs and wait for Dr. Wacket. I'm going to check on him."
"Ms. Scott..." She wanted to say more, but I had already entered the room.
At this moment, the room was in utter chaos, with bedding and clothes torn to shreds and almost everything movable on the floor. I quickly scanned the room but did not see Lucas anywhere.
I immediately rushed to the bathroom, and indeed, it was almost the same scene as yesterday. The man was covered in self-inflicted wounds. He looked disheveled and was huddled under the shower, water running over him and soaking him through.
Catching sight of a fresh red mark on his left wrist, my heart skipped, and my legs went weak. I hurriedly went to him as his cut wound was bleeding profusely.
I frantically tried to stop the bleeding, attempting to tear my own clothes, but they were thick cotton, and I could not rip them.
It seemed he felt someone holding his hand. Lucas suddenly looked up, his eyes bloodshot as he glanced at me. Almost simultaneously, his right hand holding a shard of glass suddenly jabbed toward my hand.
"Careful!" a voice came from behind. I was pulled away, and even though the person behind me dragged me back a few steps, I was still scratched.
With furrowed brows, Yaron pulled me out of the bathroom, then slammed the bathroom door shut, looking at me. "Wait outside. Leave this to me."
