SLOANE’S POINT OF VIEW.
I don’t think I’ve ever been this nervous in my life.
I tried taking deep, calming breaths in an attempt to soothe my racing heart, but nothing seemed to be working as my palms grew sweaty and clammy. It was almost time for dinner with my newfound family, so I dressed in something simple, a short red dress that made me look younger than I was.
“Breathe, Sloane. It’s not like they’re gonna bite you.” I whispered to myself, trying to get myself calmer. My phone dings with a text message, jolting me in my seat.
“I’m almost there, baby.”
I smiled at the sight. Lucien was almost here, and it made me much calmer. I hadn’t seen him since this madness started because he had a business trip. My heart raced with eagerness this time around as I leaned forward in my seat. I was waiting for him at school, and the fact that everyone else had gone home filled the usually bubbly school with an eerie silence that made the hairs on the back of my neck rise.
