"What are you talking about?" Miranda asked.
Hazel replied, "When I couldn't get the shrimp, he didn't grab it for me."
Miranda recalled the scene and asked, "You did that on purpose?"
"Of course," Hazel replied. It was a deliberate test.
"Maybe he just didn't see it."
"Then why did he notice you?" Hazel paused for a moment before providing the answer. "It's because he's been watching you this whole time."
Hazel's remarks hit harder than the last. Miranda felt nothing at first, but after Hazel's triple whammy, even she was starting to believe Wayne might actually have a slight interest in her.
Still, she said, "Impossible."
"Why not? You're beautiful, competent, easy-going, and a fantastic cook. I'm not even a man, and I like you. Just because Lucas is blind doesn't mean all men are."
Miranda didn't want to argue about something so meaningless. She was a divorcee with a child. Wayne could have anyone he wanted, so why would he choose her?
