Miranda pulled back the foot she had just stepped forward.
But Lucas' aunt had already seen her and stood up, waving. "Miranda, you're here! Come have a seat, we've all been waiting for you."
With no way out, she walked over and sat down, ordering a coffee.
Liliana smiled. "We're just here to have a casual chat."
Miranda's coffee was served, and only after casually talking about a couple of unrelated topics did Liliana get to the point. "Miranda, I'm here today because Lucas asked me to come. You know how bad he is at expressing himself."
Miranda had heard this kind of opening line a thousand times. At first, she believed it. Then, doubt started creeping in. Eventually, she became certain that it wasn't that Lucas was bad at expressing himself—it was that he never cared to say anything.
