Chapter 357
Ronald Wright’s throat tightened as he gently patted my back. “Just a nightmare, not real. I’m here now. There’s no car coming at you. Did you have any other nightmares?”
His chest was broad, warm, and effortlessly wrapped me in a sense of security.
I buried my face against him, my voice muffled, “No, just that.”
The frown on his face eased up a bit. “Alright.”
My emotions steadied, but thinking back to everything in the dream left me unsettled.
The joy, the passion, the burning love—all of it felt so vivid. Even the sensation of the car hitting me, crushing me—it was all too real.
“Did it really not happen?”
I mumbled to myself, struggling to separate dream from reality.
Ronald’s eyes darkened slightly. “Of course not. Look at you now—healthy and fine.”
Right.
If what happened in the dream was real, there’s no way I’d have survived it at all.
It had to be just a dream.
That realization calmed me a lot.
Ronald’s deep voice dropped softly. “Is your head still hurting?” I shook my head
